STM backline finally breaking...
STM finally gets an opp running into JHS third for potential 1v1 opp vs gk, but gk barely gets their first to clear away with a big kick.

Final score: JHS 3-0 over a valiant effort by STM.
The better team won for sure, but I wouldn't discount STM in the next couple of weeks...

Looks like we'll all get the opportunity for another exciting game between Jesuit and BM sooner than expected. Merry Christmas to us!

Wah wah waaaah! Get over it. You win some and you lose some. Place the blame on the refs all you want, but at some point you must look in the mirror and examine the truth. The teams that go on to win are the teams that know how to score and play effectively by maintaining possession and not simply playing kick ball. Seems to me that your team lacked in both fields this weekend.

POST DELETED Edit: Some other mod can delete your post if necessary, but plain and simple, I'm sure your post was deleted b/c all us soccer folk on here like to remind y'all that officials don't win and lose games, teams do. And, if not a written rule, it's pretty well-known that lambasting referees on here isn't kosher because (IMO) blaming referees for results isn't something we want our players to believe is true or use as a crutch. You're post was deleted because it VILOLATES the rules of this forum. Check them out: www.lahssoccer.com/message_board.htm

M Unit & Goalieguy, thanks for all you did the last couple of days. Being in Shreveport, I wasn't really interested, but the way the two of you gave a blow by blow on almost every game especially the last 3, was amazing. I stayed very tuned in, even more so than when I was actually there a couple of years ago. Very good job guys.

The play by play commentary was amazing! Knowing most of the NOLA parents & players it was great to try and figure out which parent it was that did the complaining & had the outbursts. The descriptive words, like blazing & speedy fit the players that they were talking about. I could tell who they were talking about while I sat at my computer in my house because I couldn't make it to the games. I don't know who M Unit & Goalieguy are but they are great at play by play. Thanks!

Just my 2cents, as I did not see what was posted and I am assuming that he was talking/blaming/voicing opinion on poor refereeing that might have occurred in a match either yesterday or today. Now it seems easy to yell "hey the ref didn't lose the game for you" or something to that sort, but I think that the beauty of this game is that there are fouls and there are penalties in the rules of the game that are to be called to protect the game and/or the players in the game but, all the while, it is up to the discretion of the center and/or linesman to call or play on. This can be very frustrating when both sides look at a call differently. You obviously need to teach and learn to live with decisions but an issue that arises which is blatant is that there seems to be no accountability on their end. Players, coaches, parents, fans all have the duty to respect and live with an officials call but should there be some accountability from there end? Are these officials getting graded and/or monitored in bigger matches? Or, in a case with a tournament, are they just going to turn in scores, and off to the next match without and discussion and/or conversation about an incident? Is anyone watching games other than the 3 refereeing? If something does happen, is there a process for both schools to file a formal complaint or is it just a "he said she said what happened" Or " hey, i wasn't there to see what happened". These are just some thoughts about the process that might have been touched on. I do know that these frustrations run throughout the youth game weather it be High school or club. I understand that Finding officials that really "know" the game to handle the amount of games that are constantly being played is a difficult task. I just think some coaches need a little more than "hey you lost deal with it" when that occurs.
Was I close golieguy or kingofall?

You certainly have a point. I was only responding to force24ever's comments aimed at taking away the integrity of this tournament. The game has it's flaws, which sometimes leads to certain outcomes. That's just the game. With that being said, are comments similar to f24e's really necessary? Every team gets screwed from time to time. It's part of the game, tough... deal with it and move on. It's high school soccer, not the Champions League. And as far as your 30 years of experience with soccer and your quick judgement of the officiating, I can only hope you are or have refereed at some point in your long "career". It's easy to judge from the stands when your team's not getting the right result.

Capitalcity Had anything close to what you posted been up there, nothing would be deleted. It's the way things are written, especially with Malice and accusing the tournament and officials of being worst ever and the second post claiming the SPS fans or NOLA people must be running the site. I really find humor in the poster who wrote this and can say its so ironic on so many points but I won't go there! Stay classy LaPrep!

As an ex-ref, I'll point out that just like teams, coaches and players, refs can have bad games and bad days. I could tell those days when I seemed to always be out of position, eyes missing things, compared to when I felt I was top of the game.
But... the job is not made easier, nor are judgements sharpened when teenagers are acting like spoiled brats, dancing around like Argentinian pros, showing up the ref and inciting their teammates. Nor is it helped by vulgar parents who barely know the rules yelling "his foot touched the line! his foot touched the line ... its a toss-in for us'uns, you idiot"
Maybe we coaches should place more emphasis on teaching the players how to act like a man on the field. No other sport would tolerate the type of behavior that goes on the soccer field in some matches.
Try that stuff in basketball and the other team would be shooting technicals until the cows came home to Auburn ... which is a lot of cows! Try even taking a second glance at the ump in baseball and you'd hit the showers.
What is really bothering me is that a lot of the really unnecessary theatrics seem to come from some of the better players, who should be team leaders. They then infect the rest of the team, and the first thing you know, a near riot is underway on the field. And sometimes, it seems some coaches themselves get carried away and stoke the fire.
Well, if I acted like some of the lads I see today, I would have been behind the woodshed when I got home. But today, the parents are telling their poor little darling who just got his second red card, that he is a victim of injust and venal refs.
We've all had games that MAY have turned on a PK decision, missed offsides, mistaken touch line, etc. But what about the six missed short-range shots? the bobbled clearence, the dribble artist who was repeatedly stripped of the ball?
This is high school soccer. I like to win as much as anyone, but I think it more important that 50 years from now, some lad I'm currently coaching will be my age, 67, and will go to his 50th reunion, meet his teammates and say... "you know, coach made us play the right way... and I understand why."
Just my two bits... sorry for the rant.
