Can a player play both varsity high school and middle school? Girl who scored a goal in yesterday's uhigh episcopal game is playing in a middle school game right now.
I didn't think you could do that.

Should be a forfeit, correct?

I think there is an exception if they are part of their middle school sponsored team. If they're playing for a "private" team, it's not allowed. Not a mandatory forfeit if I remember right. Fines, probation, etc.

No, you cannot play both. against LHSAA rules. I do not believe this is correct. At Country Day we generally keep our teams separate because it makes sense. If you are good enough to contribute on the field for the Varsity, why risk an injury playing Middle School? I do not believe this is a rules violation and I have seen other schools do this is many sports. What is your basis for saying this is an LHSAA rules violation?

Our school has eighth graders that play both.

Copy & paste the URL address into your web address. For some reason, LHSAA forbids linking to it, but if entered directly, it will work.

Off the pitch and laffysoccermom are correct. This occurs in our area, too, and in other sports. It depends on how the school is set up and how the MS league is set up.
What is the motivation for bringing this up on the internet the last week of the season, especially considering your school is not in the same district as the two schools cited? You could meet one, or even both, of these schools in the playoffs.

Having not visited the link. My understanding of the rule is that if the middle school and the hi school are under the same roof it is not a problem. That is what our A.D. has told me.

Of course our school also has girls that sometimes play on the boys team too.

We do also. They are better than most of the boys.

I brought it up because I saw it today. Motivation? How about making sure people play fair and follow the rules. Do you take for granted that everyone does all the time? That is naive. I asked a question. Certainly nothing wrong with that. And thank you all for the clarification.

Hi HKN Boy oh Boy, (making sure we play by the rules) Baloney. You are worried to death in case you meet us. Grow up. There is no rule about a 7th or 8th grader playing for the varsity team as long as they are eligible for the varsity team. I know NLC, AH, and us, have have been doing it all year. We do play by the rules. If you had taken the time to check instead of throwing out these insinuations you would have known that. Happy playoffs

I don't see why varsity teams would have issues playing teams with middle school players...
I could understand the middle school teams complaining if they were playing teams with players playing at the varsity level but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

You are correct soccer mom. It was a middle school parent who compained to me, thinking I would know the rule. I didn't know so I posted it here to find out. And we should all be happy to know that it is OK.

If you'd only wanted to "find out" you could've asked the question without mentioning the names of the schools involved. And you know that...
