Look for Coach Esker's Mandeville Skippers with their strong and talented front line to upset the Lady Lions of Lafayette.
Byrd's earlier win against Mt. Carmel was a fluke in the Mandeville tournament. They have not seen the likes of the talented Doves on a regular basis. The Doves will advance.
The semi's will be: Mandeville vs Mt. Carmel
Dominican vs St. Scholastica Academy

Here are mine with some restrictions. If Mandeville plays at home against Lafayette and Dominican plays Fontainebleau on Fontainebleau's home field: Mandeville, Mt. Carmel, Fountainebleau, SSA If other way around Lafayette, Mt. Carmel, Dominican, SSA Do not believe Mandeville can travel and beat Lafayette at home and I feel Fountainebleau will not prevail a second time (beat Dominican away a couple weeks ago on turf field) on Dominican's turf home field! Will know more about home field advantage after first round.

I'll take the "bracketology" approach to this. The last 2 years seeds 1, 6 & 7 made it to the final 4. In 2010 12th made it (& won). In 2011 the 5th seed made it. (Appears the 12 vs 5 in the 2nd round is a HUGE game) So I'll take: #1 Lafayette #5 St. Thomas More #6 Fontainebleau # 7 Byrd

Where's the love for the Doves? Have you not learned from recent history ('08-'11)? I see a few of you are picking Byrd to reach the semi's. Byrd has to get through Dutchtown first and the Griffins, led by their three seniors who are all playing at the next level, have been playing good ball as of late. Nonetheless, the Doves will be in the semi's. And, div1coach222, I see for whom you are rooting. Good luck to us all

mydove- quite frankly I am a District 6 fan. I am rooting for all now and for one in the end, but when I make my picks it comes from my head and not my heart. I feel 3 of the 4 teams in this district can go deep into the playoffs, but I will stress any of the top 10 can knock off another if a team has a lil drop off day. I stress a "LIL" drop off.Believe me that happens and has happened to all this year. I was amazed of the SSA/Mt.Carmel and SSA/Mandeville scores, was not there so cannot give an opinion of what may have happened. If all holds to form any of the top 8 could make the final four and I do feel home fields will play a part because of familiarity and turf fields.

You're right, it will be a cakewalk for SSA. Ya'll shouldn't worry about us up here t'all. Just relax and take it easy. I suggest ya'll eat well and enjoy your nights out, so that ya'll are good 'n' loose for the game. - I have to agree with div1coach222. There are a lot of talented teams and it will come down to individual match-ups and who is tired from travel. That 5 hours or more between North and South is a challenge. You are right, once a 7-seed gets through the 1st round, no team can be taken for granted but I'm not gonna bet agin my Jackets.

Great Point! That is one variable kind of forgot" travel time". With all top 10 teams if anyone has to travel 4 to 5 hours I would give a little edge to the home team. I almost forgot what that was like when I played sports in my "YOUNGER" days.

Okay, I'll agree to the "travel time" philosophy, the 07-08 Doves ran into this problem when they had to travel to Lake Charles to play Barbe High School. To make it worse, they drove the distance on a yellow school bus instead of a charter bus. It definitely had an impact on the players. The Doves led in every statistic of the game, except the one that mattered most; the score at the end of the game.

I would rather be at home especially as you get deeper into the playoffs because teams are more evenly matched. The game can go either way and that may give you that lil bit extra.
