Inner District grudge match! SJA holds the advantage with 2 one goal victories. Can BRHS make the third time a charm and steal one away from their district rival? Last time saw similar game conditions with Set pieces ruling the day and puddles providing an additional defender. I'm heading to the field shortly and will try to update. Predictions?
I've gotta go with my Lady Bulldogs in this one (third time IS a charm) scoring a late goal to win by one! I'm sure SJA Dad will have it a little different!
Anyway it should be a great game. Weigh in!

I heard that they are setting up metal detectors at the gate for this game.

Such a great game! I'm going overtime, and a winner in one of the 5 mins golden goal periods.
Regulation 1-1

I heard that they are setting up metal detectors at the gate for this game. Guess I better leave all the weapons in the car then! Dangit!

What can I say? What a game. When was the last time you saw a girls game with 20 fouls?? That might lead you to believe this was just an elbow-fest. Not true. Both teams with quality chances. Quite frankly, BRHS should have been up 2-0 4 mins in -- 2 virtual open netters that were sent sailing over the bar.
Then it settled. BRHS controlled the 1st 15. Than SJA gradually gained the pitch. Very few opps the rest of the half. Possession 1st half -- BRHS 60 SJA 40.
2nd half kickoff seemed to open things up. Wings for both teams became much more involved. Much more fluid flow to the game.
BRHS scratches 1st in the 65th min when a corner results in a scrum that I think Emily Segura converts. 1-0 BRHS.
SJA puts the pedal to the medal and pushes, pushes, and pushes.
In the 69th min, Bradie Moran takes a ball and just before the half line, passes to Maggie Wilkins, who takes a dribble and then a feeds a a perfect through ball to Emily Krzystowczyk who beats 1 defender and then chips for the equalizer.
Both teams have chances the rest of the half but then we go to OT.
In the 86th min, Rachel Fenner sends a low wicked corner that BRHS kicks out. Another corner.
This time, Fenner floats one into the box, and 5' 3" Jessica Dismukes somehow wiggles in and not only gets a head on it but blisters it into the back of the net.
2nd OT half is SJA playing defense with few quality opps for BRHS.
Rugged, physical game. Congrats BRHS on a terrific season and for beating EA.

Very acurate summary of the game SJA Dad! This was a knockdown drag out battle. I thought we had a chance in regulation til Nony went out with a knee twist. The equalizer came while she was stretching it out on the sideline. SJA definitely took advantage of the situation and drew even on some good passes through the defense. The winning goal was a nice header that caught the keeper flat footed. BRHS defender got a head on it as she was falling back into the net. Just got there a tick too late. Good luck with Dominican in th next round! I was very impressed with center back Izzy and R.Fenner. Definitely worthy of All District consideration!
