We would like everyone to offer prayers for the injured Live Oak player taken to the hospital tonight.
If anyone has information on her, please post.

Thanks for the prayers for Peyton Meyers that was injured in the Live Oak - Dutchtown game. Peyton has a mild concussion, bruised shoulder and jaw. She is home resting on pain meds. Thanks again!

Glad to hear she is ok. Prayers out to she and her family. Taking your kid to the ER sucks. Someone told me once that girls soccer is No. 2 for causing concussions (behind throwball).

Heard NFL commish Roger Goodell say this in an interview yesterday before the super bowl. Actually mentioned girls soccer. Well, we've been talking with my daughter about wearing a concussion band - so she didn't like hearing that very much.
What do you all think about a band? I have heard a few different opinions.

Didn't stop my own GK from a pretty nasty concussion suffered from taking a shot from about 4 yards away right on the temple. But anything that might prevent them from happening should be looked at for sure. Girls lacrosse is even worse and the rules disallow players to wear helmets.

Former college player now coach had contrasting stories. Some girls get timid and cannot play with a band - it makes them afraid. Some girls get a band and play dangerously, increasing risk. Thought it was most important for GK's, but not so sure for everyone else. I am still not sure. Most here think it is good - but are your girls wearing one?

If you haven't had a chance you should watch this. Its a document on concussions in high school football. (Applies for all high school sports). Its called Big Hits, Broken Dreams. It talks about the importance of player safety and having athletic trainers in high school. Its a long video but a very good documentary.
