Question... Why would an assignor tell a coach he can secure a crew for his/her playoff game and then a day later tell that same coach, oh sorry, I can't field a crew for you? I'll tell you why, cause that assignor received a request for a "better" game. This is so unprofessional. This is probably the same assignor who has a conniption when a ref turns back an assignment for a "better game". There should be a consequence for this gall.

There can be many reasons why. Especially for Playoff games, assignors want to get the best crew possible. If they accept the game, then attempt to staff the game and find out there are no qualified referees who can staff the game, I am sure that most coaches would rather the assignor turn back the game so another association that many have enough referees could staff it. Assigning is a numbers game. With staggered start times, short periods available to schedule, extended travel times, and high level matches that require high level referees, there are staffing issues beyond, "got a better game."
Possibly the game was turned back because there was "a better game" but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion first.

I've heard of many assignors turn back games because there aren't enough qualified bodies NAND also because an official who said he could work had an issue and is now unavailable. But I've never heard of one turning back a game because a better game came along.
I have heard of coaches that go to 2-3 associations looking for officials, then see who is assigned and then turn the others down when they got who they wanted.

So, the assignor is obviously of French descent, I you are referring to them as "this gall" (although I think it should be spelled Gaul). So, are we talking LC or Laffy?

Just received an email stating that my crew was removed from our match tomorrow because the visiting team rejected the refs after prior approval. It goes both ways, no big deal. At least I don't have to leave work at 2:00 for a 3:30 game.

Once refs associations are approved by both teams, LHSAA would hold it if needed. It takes both teams to agree to change if both first agreed to an association. It is the association that must be agreed upon, not the crew! I do ask assignorsif one of their top two guys are available for big playoff games... Most assignors are willing to reveal that info.
