0 - 0 @ half. Dominican wih the better run of play, but SJA really pushed toward later stages of the half, finding space in the mid field.
Shots at the half --
Dom -- 6 (2) OG SJA -- 3 (1) OG
Coch Al does not look happy and I'm certain Dom is going to push, push, push in the first 3 mins. We'll see if SJA can withstand that expected onslaught. If they can, hmmm ...
We shall see.

1-0 Dom in the 82nd min final. Curious that refs allowed so much extra considering one brief injury and zero goals. Time on my clock When the goal scored was 41:43. Dom deserved the win but this game should have been sent to OT.

First off, congratulations to Dominican. Dominican clearly controlled play and probably would have won in overtime. However, after making what I thought was their final push in the 41st or 42nd minute of the second half, taking a shot and SJA making the save, I thought that the game would go into overtime. Why the corner was awarded I am not sure. Time was clearly up. I don't think a team is required to advance the ball to midfield to end the game, but since I can't find the official rules for Louisiana soccer I don't know how the end of a game is officially decided. Oh well.
Stats: Shots: SJA - 3, 1 on goal Dom - 18, 7 on goal
Corners: SJA - 0 Dom - one too many (9)
Throw ins: SJA 37 Dom 37
Saves: SJA 7 Dom 0
Fouls: SJA 3 Dom 6
offsides: SJA 0 Dom 3

There were 2 injury stops in the second half both for SJA players. According to the rules, the referee is to stop his/her clock to allow for the players to get aided and escorted off the field. From a spectator perspective, we will always feel time added was too much or too little depending on what side of the field we're sitting. SJA had zero shots on goal in the second half, but it's also true that Dominican created lots of chances and did NOT finish them.

I remember only one injury in the second half for SJA, but I could have missed one. I seem to recall that SJA had one injury to a defender in the first half that was resolved quickly along with the injury to the Dominican forward took quite a lot of time. I think the extra time added in the second was not in proportion to the extra time added in the first based on the actual time to attend to the injuries.
SJA did not generate an offensive push at all in the second half. I agree that Dominican did create lots of chances and did NOT finish them. However, that is because SJA's defense closed quickly when needed (good job Izzy, Brady, Amanda, Caroline, Gabby, and Kellie) and Meghan Flechas played a whale of a game at keeper - not necessarly great saves on shots, but collecting crosses and gathering up other balls passed into the box.
There is no argument that Dominican was the stronger side and very likely would have prevailed in overtime. Good luck to them in the rest of the tournament.

St. Joseph's definitely came into the game with a bend don't break mentality. Coach Landry and the players executed it very well. With the defense only losing Gabby (DEF) and Meghan (GK) to graduation, out of those mentioned, this team will only get stronger next year. They now know that they can play and hang with the top teams in the state. Keep your head's up ladies. You left it all on the field and should be proud of your season. I look forward to another strong SJA team next year.

This is my final comment on the matter. There was 1 -- my daughter with a hip flexor -- and she was off the field within 30 seconds. Defender was assisted off at the end of the 1st half.
Absolutely concur that Dominican was the better team and chances are they would have prevailed in OT.
I wish them and Coach Al the best of luck.
