Deplorable ref calls in Dominican vs SSA. Heartbreaking when refs actually determine the outcome of a match on bad calls. Clearly, DHS dominated the match and outplayed the opponent on every level.
I am going to jump on the bandwagon here and ask the question. What game were you watching? Was the result the same when you woke up from the dream world you are obviously in?
I went to the game as a totally neutral soccer fan hoping to see a good game played by equally matched teams. I did not see a good game as far as soccer was concerned but this was caused in no small part to the conditions.
Game started well for SSA who dominated the first 20 minutes, and then Dom struck from a well taken free kick followed by a superb header. After this the game became more even.
Second half open the same way as the first SSA dominated play (In my opinion) Dom seemed happy enough to defend their lead, SSA moved up their #12 from defense and left just three back, it worked, tied game.
SSA were very unfortunate not to have tied it up earlier as someone has stated very dubious “in control” call
Now the penalty, again I believe that some are looking through rose colored glasses here, no doubts at all; girl going across box tripped and bundled over, no argument.
My opinion on the referee (for what its worth) First half and the start of the second he seemed to have the “let them play” syndrome. It wasn’t bad refereeing just a bit loose. Things got a little more serious in the later stages and he tightened up on the calls. Asking the question would he have made the same penalty call in the first half I have to believe the answer to be, yes he would.
My advice to “Playonman’ would be to try and watch a game objectively and maybe get a better grasp on which team “dominates” because not even in the wildest fantasy did Dom dominate anything.
Do not forget just because a goal-keeper touches the ball it does not always count as a shot
