If this is the real brackets here is how I see it in the quarters. A. Lafayette B. The toughest bracket will be either Acadiana or Alexandris, (yall know who Im pulling for) C. In Lake Charle I got to go with St Louis, Sorry BC please prove me wrong! D. Brother Martin Good luck to all the teams, should be a great torny! You are probably correct... We aren't a great tournament team cause of not having depth like the big schools do or even a St Louis or ASH, who both have deep benches. Especially if we were lucky enough to have a chance at advancing going into third game vs St Louis, depth and fatigue will surely play a factor. We are a one game at a time team... You could see how bad our fatigue level was today during second game at Holiday Cup vs Grace King. My boys are in tremendous conditioning... But only 2-4 off bench and a coup,e battling through injuries in these hard games today cause massive fatigue levels at times. It's magnified at the Showcase against great teams from Division I and deeper Division II teams. But we will have a blast trying... Great learning experiences that can only help if we meet again in playoffs! Conditioning and roster depth will surely be BIG factors. The teams reaching the finals will be playing their fourth match of the day. There will be a lot of tired legs out there.

One thing I noticed is that St Thomas (TX) tied Lafayette (0-0) earlier this season in a TX tournament ... but isn't now in the top Showcase Bracket. Wonder if that was a fluke?

Pokle: We'll find out this evening! I anticipate them being a very good team. Will try to keep the board updated.

I wasn't there to see the game but I was told that Lafayette dominated the game but struggled with finishing in this particular game. Sounds like a typical fluke to me. It was early in the season

Acadiana 0-0 Alexandria Lafayette 1-0 Kelly TX Beau Chene 1-1 New Iberia Teurlings 0-3 Sulphur Was able to watch these set of games and by far the game of the day was Acadiana and Alex. Very intenst game to watch although no score high entergy game. St.Amant come up big today with 3-0 win over Bolton, the true test for the Gators will be in the morning against Lafayette. I was impressed with Lafayette's team spead vs Kelly as they dont give up on any ball, when they lose the ball they work really hard to get the ball back and then attack. St.Amant's speed is it's strength as well as Lafayette should be an intresting matchup!

I've been dealing with a nasty chest cold with flu symptons since last Thursday. It's in the air so bundle up and get some vitamin C and good fluids in you. Green tea and miso soup have been working wonders. Working 12 hours days not so much. Yuck

University 1 Shreve 1
Brother Martin 1 Caddo Magnet 0
Ok Ive been pretty PC so far this season so its time to take off the gloves a bit. I could only see bits and pieces of the Magnet -BM game but my trusted correspondent futbolisfreedom watched the whole game..Now either BM had a serious off game or Magnet is a top 10 team. Just wasn't that much difference. BM outpossessed but for the states #1 team they should have dominated and they did not.
Now Shreve is probably kicking themselves for not winning this game but given the comedy of errors that was today's roadtrip we are lucky and fortunate that University didn't call for the forfeit and to their credit did not. First off our long time road trip bus lady retired last year and so Caddo parish must have tried to find the least responsible driver and the absolute nastiest unclean bus they could find and then decide to show up 45 minutes late for what was already going to be a tight trip down. because the kids were having finals we were not allowed to leave until 4 and the boys hit the interstate for a 190 mile trip at 5 sharp for an 830 game time. No stops and the boys pile out of the bus at 8:38 quick trip to the men's quick warm up and ready for the whistle. to compound the error our driver decides during our game to get a snack and not bother checking her fuel level so that at the conclusion of the game our boys run out of gas on MLK on the way back to the hotel and the parents have to carpool them and finally get them there around 11..
As far as the game itself. Shreve moved some pieces around bringing one of its starting forwards into the net (not having played in goal since U12) but after a jittery start actually made some good saves although he got caught flat footed on University's one clean chance and the ball took an awkward spin (wet ball) of the shooters foot and went in under the diving goalie. Shreve had several good chances in the first half but finally equalized late when Sr. Max Stocker (holding the ball up well tonight) found Ken Chism on a through ball, Chism beats the goalie to the ball and finishs well getting some redemption for a first half clean chance inside the box he sent over the bar. University was so much larger that I was sure we were going to concede on a corner but we were fortunate in that most corners weren't placed in dangerous spots. On the other hand we had an unmarked player on one of our few corners that would have normally buried that ball but hit it into the ground. given the drive on the bus (oh yeah the boys were complaining that several seats were unusable either vomit or feces or maybe both gave the ride down a wonderful aromatic ambience. If we are fortunate to get our starting goalie back soon, I saw enough of an improvement tonight that we might have found another missing piece of the puzzle to get Shreve back to playing decent soccer.
