Overrated? Well here is my two cents. First as a voting member of the top ten for several years (when it was not just coaches), I can assure you it is a tough job. It is also an opinion based on evaluating stats records and personnel. It is also a THANKLESS job because someone will ALWAYS criticize your vote. IS BC overrated? Well let’s look at it. This weekend they hosted the best DII DIII tournament in the state. That takes a lot of work from the coach parents and players. It also adds pressure to win your own tournament. If I looked at this thing right BC tied in bracket with the number 2 ranked team from DIII. They lost out on goal difference, so does that mean they aren’t worthy of a high ranking??? I think not. Should they drop this week in the polls? Probably, but not by much, they should be in the top four or five, (in my opinion). Rankings are fun to look at and fun to debate but in the end the pollsters usually get it right. Just look at past polls and the year’s final results.

No doubt Beau Chene is a quality team, and I agree they stay in the top 5. But after this weekends results I believe Alexandria proved they should hold the #1 spot for a little while.

Thanks to all of you who attended this tournament as a coach, player, or fan. We appreciate all of your efforts to make this a top notch tournament! I need to thanks my parents... Who are the best, hardest working group of soccer moms and dads in the entire state! Every year they help put on the largest show of hospitality in a soccer tournament that I have ever seen! All of your praise to me each year is directly deflected to them as I can only organize, invite, and set up the operational part of the competition. They have the tasks of organizing everything else that you see at Moore Park for those two days. Without them, Copa Acadiana could not exist the way it does...
Gotta say goodbye and thanks to Alexandria and Holy Cross. Both are going to Division I for sure next season and thus can not participate in Copa. As a coach, if my team could not win it, you have to be ecstatic for Sons and his Alexandria team for winning Copa for the first time in their third and last final appearance in the 5 year history of the tournament. After the game, the attitudes of both Northlake and Alexandria players during the trophy presentations (as with Neville, Holy Cross, Loyola and Teurlings girls) shows how part of being a successful top program consists of off of the pitch behavior as well as top coaching. Saw great kids and wonderful attitudes all around. Very polite and well mannered. And not just with the finalists.... You could see this throughout the tournament all over with all of the players. Some of our new teams were so thrilled to just be a part of the tournament... Great experience for their young teams. It's great feeling to host these guys and girls and see them happy to be part of this great event. That may be the biggest sign of how huge this event has become... And I thank all of you for helping this become a premier annual event for Division II and Divisions III soccer in the state, now for both boys and girls!
Loved having the female game become part of Copa for the first time! It definitely added a touch of class and fundamentally sound soccer to this event! Thanks to all of you for making the inaugural girls bracket a huge success! Congrats to Mark Matlock and his Lady Flyers for winning the first ever event! A huge win over back to back defending Division II champs Teurlings is something to be proud of. Can't wait to add 8 more teams to our lady's brackets for a total of 16 teams next season!
After losing Alexandria and Holy Cross next year, we have already worked hard to find their replacements in Newman and St Thomas More as both have tentatively accepted a spot in next years event. Hope to finalize their involvement soon.
Copa Acadiana 2012 will go down as the highest attended Copa in history, smashing last years attendance. As I stated to someone this weekend... Every year I can't wait till Copa, during Copa, I can't wait for it to be over... And now after sleeping in late today and resting for what seems like a full week... I again can't wait till Copa Acadiana 2013!

Great tourney and way to start the season! I do wish the scheduling was more friendly for teams with less numbers ... but you can't get everything you want ... it does really show you which teams have depth and play well together as a team (in addition to which teams have quality sides). Congrats to all that make this tournament a success and something to look forward to each season. Is there a retweet button? I mean really, who's voting this year? The polls, in DII at least, seem off. No way a team like vandy should be losing 0-3 in 25 min halves to a team not even near the top 5. Come on voters, stop going with traditional teams and start awarding success. 13bgros...VCHS are not in the top 5 and they did lose and deservedly to the #9 ranked team 3-0 who will surely be ranked in the top 5 after this week. However, VCHS did show resiliency to beat a team ranked higher than them later 2-0 (2 goals also disallowed). Maybe you should worry about your team up there in Thibodaux and stop bashing another team to politic your team up the rankings. Good teams do the talking on the field and you're only as good as your last result. Congratulations to all who participated this weekend win, lose, or draw. Chad another fantastic tournament. We can't wait to do it again next year. Vandebilt was a quality side (had most shots on goal of any team we've played this season) ... I'm sure they're plotting their revenge for our matchup this Friday in Houma--hopefully both are at full strength for another great game.

Would like to Thank Lojic, Pokle, squeak11, and PMalinich for keeping the thread updated during the tournament. Excellent job guys. For the first time since doing this tournament, I didn't have to come home and update the entire tournament results!

We can definitely confirm St Thomas More and Newman as the replacements for Alexandria and Holy Cross (both going to Division I next two years)next season at Copa Acadiana 2013. More spots may open up when we have our recommit period for this years teams. We do have a nice list of teams that have stated they want in or back in for 2013. I'd look for 2013 Copa to be the biggest and best yet!

On behalf of our players, parents, and coaches from Alexandria, I just want to give a big THANKS to Chad and his entire crew from BC (parents, players, sponsors, and volunteers). This is always a first class tournament! We will truly miss the Copa in upcoming years! I would strongly recommend this tourney to anyone! From the atmosphere to the competition and hospitality, it is top notch. From a coaches perspective, it would almost seem impossible to commit your attention to your team while trying to host such a tournament. Much respect for the coaches and their program who do this!! Congrats to Nick and his boys (Northlake Christian)! It was a great final and we are proud we got the result from such a quality side. Last but not least, congrats to my boys for playing their hearts out! We wanted to go out with a bang being our last year in Copa! It was a fun ride and we will never forget the memories and results we have had there! Thanks and best of luck to everyone the rest of the way! Sons Pathoumthong Alexandria Senior High

As Coach Sons said this was an amazing tournament. Thanks to Chad and all of the parents and players who helped. It's such a great experience. I have brought my team every year since this tournament started and every year I am ready to come back! I attend St. Paul's Invitational and have to say that the Copa is just as good with getting quality games and watching great soccer throughout the tournament. I wanted to thank Alexandria for a Great Final! They are well coached and were very disciplined. Sons is a great coach and wish him and his team nothing but the best! I wanted to say to my parents and players thank you for supporting the NCS program and that I'm proud and honored to be your coach. Thanks again to everyone who made this a great experience, God Bless!
