This weekend there is an academy for referees at the RPL games in mande ille. We have about 45 referees and assessors participating, with the lead instructor being a former FIFA AR that the state referee committee is bringing in. If you are a referee and not taking advantage of these types of training sessions to improve your game, you are wasting free chances for getting better. The state referee committee offers multiple training opportunities throughout the year, in all different regions, and you should take advantage of these opportunities.
Interested in participating in future training sessions? Information is posted in the referee section on the LSA website, on our referee Facebook page, via email, and also here. Not sure if this training is for you? Contact a member of the state referee committe and ask. Their contact info is also on the LSA referee page. You can also pm me here...
Players are always working to improve, referees should be doing this as well

And anyone can come over this weekend and just sit and watch. Sit with one of the assessors. Talk to the Fifa AR. One can learn a lot just from that. And a training session is being held at the complex at 930 am (Mandeville Pelican Park) on the Purple Fields. If raining, we will be in the Brown Gym.

Hmm I just happened to login to this site, as the High School season isn't close to starting yet. In regards to your post...i DO check the LSA-Soccer.org referee page regularly and i have not seen anything posted regarding this training, Nor have i recieved an email (from whom LSA? CCSRA? State Referee Committee?), and this is the first i've ever heard about a referee Facebook page. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad there was a training opportunity, which i have missed, but i seem to think the communication was/is not as good as you think (hence your post being only 2 days before the training). i would appreciate any replies with information on how to get on this email list, or where/how i missed the training listed on the LSa site, and what the facebook page is. Thank you

This particular event was considred an advanced referee academy and the officials invited to referee were our grade 5,6 and 7 referees. But even with that said, many referees who were not working games turned out for the Saturday training and stuck around to watch games and discuss the events with our assessors.
As the event got closer, we were lacking a few ARs and actually reached out on our FB Page which is called "La Referees". On this page, we do post info about these type events, training, etc.
This was strictly sponosred by the La SRC, not CCSRA or other referee association. We had referees form almost every part of the state in attendance along with the former FIFA AR, 6 national/state assessors and 4 other referee assessors.

I believe what lordlars was concerned about was that happy jack in one post was telling referees that they were missing out on good training if they didn't take advantage of this free training but it's difficult to take advantage if it's not posted on the official state referee webpage. No where in his post did lordlard indicate he was concerned that he wasn't asked to work the games but simply that since he didn't know about the training offered he wasn't afforded an opportunity to even come over and sit in on the off the field training in the morning. If you're going to tell people that they should be taking advantage of the training it should be posted well in advance on the Referee link on the LSA homepage. Make it clear if it's just for upper level referees or are all registered referees invited to come and participate in the classroom lectures, even if they aren't going to be assigned to work the games. I definitely feel that these type of events are really good in the efforts to improve refereeing in the state but the communication concerning them could be much improved.
