I have been looking at the proposed amendments and there are a couple of confusing and/or contradictory proposals to be voted on.
1. The amendment to increase the number of championships uses the current criteria to select playoff participants in DI and DII and uses coach seedings. Then the power ratings proposal uses that to seed the teams. So if they both pass, is there a method to merge the two to make them complementary? 2. 18.3.10 says ties will stand in district play and 18.3.11 then gives districts option to use overtime. 3. 18.5.2 has 32 teams in DII playoffs. Is that correct? 4. And as Kevin said in an earlier post, sub-varsity teams are not allowed to play in tournaments with varsity teams that use power ratings. Can an amendment be added to exempt soccer from that rule?
I am under the impression that the LHSSCA will have representatives there to make sure that questions like these will be clarified and/or amended before the votes.
I am recommending with some reservations to my principal to support the LHSSCA proposals(of course, voting against the $50 uniform fine). I have some concerns as many others do, but believe that this is a step that we should take now.

I am recommending with some reservations to my principal to support the LHSSCA proposals(of course, voting against the $50 uniform fine). I have some concerns as many others do, but believe that this is a step that we should take now. 1. No, the power ratings proposal is a different proposal and overrides that section of the first one since it's dealing with a different area, which is rewritten from current handbook. 2. Not for the teams record. For tiebreaker purposes for district reporting. Example is like this... If a district, in their new bylaws, decides That their tiebreakers will be aggregate scores from every pair of teams (something our district may do). Basically the pair of games played against each team could be tallied up and if the total is tied at end of second district game between the two teams, then they could immediately play an overtime and/or PK shootout to break that tie for standings in district. It would not change the game results and both teams still have a draw or win/loss for their results of game... But et's say the first game was 2-1 for team A and the second game was 3-2 for team B. So each team would have a win and loss against each other... And the OT or PK shootout at the conclusion of second game is for tiebreaker purposes only since the two teams each beat one a other and are tied in head to head GD. This is a way to tiebreak every team in the district with each other. I'm not saying this is how it is, but districts decide their own way of determining their district standings and breaking ties... And OT or PKs could be used in that option. Some districts may just have a PK shootout immediately after a game to break a tie for district title. Or it could be a last tiebreaker between two teams that are tied through all other tiebreakers for district. Remember also...that only district champs are auto qualifier starting next year under this proposal and therefore each district will need to break that tie and can't just say co champs and they both get in anyway. Will have to break all ties in district standings. So there are many creative ways to do this and some can involve OT or PKs. OT and/or PKs Can also be used in tournament games but only for advancement purposes... Game will still be a draw for both teams involved. 3. Yes... This is based on last years proposal of 3 completely equal number divisions (no longer based on classification). So all 3 would have same number of teams and all 3 would also have 32 team playoffs. Goes into effect 2015-16 season after next reclass. 4. No only thing that could be done is that those games would not count in power ratings or official record. Unfortunately no... This is a principals meeting and whileJason Oertling (St Louis coach and AD)will be there in his capacity as an AD, neither Sean, Doug, nor I will be able to be there. If your principal has questions... Have him ask Jason. Thanks for the support. I feel that these will all pass except for the $50 fine one. I am worried that I was told today that the Catholic PC principal will not make the meeting due to an emergency and was told that if that happened, and since it was a solo proposal without a co author, that the proposal would not be able to be presented in accordance with LHSAA rules. Meaning that the proposal would have to be re proposed next January. I expect the power ratings and the one dealing with regular season ties to pass easily.

Chad--Coach Goodman contacted me yesterday about the proposal for DIII. According to him, if his schools AD is in attendance, he can accept a motion for amendment of the proposal in lieu of the schools principal, if that motion is presented by a member school Principal. I was able to contact my Principal, and Mark Pellegrin, Principal of Ascension Christian, will be making that motion today. Hopefully we will keep this train moving.

Anybody know that time the votes are going to happen? Yesterday the Times-Pic had a live Twitter feed, but I haven't seen anything on their site yet today.

Why don't we use the power ratings and lump everyone together. Have the top 16 make the playoffs as D1, the next 32 make the playoffs as D2, and the next 32 make the playoffs as D3, the next 32 make it as D4, and the next 32 make as in D5. In this way, only 9 schools would miss out statewide. The best would play the best showcasing the talent at the highest level and the playing field would be about as level as it could get. Just my thoughts...

The fun begins. Soccer is not indoor basketball, or football. Given the soccer season, weather, holidays, end-or-semester, ACT-testing, etc., there are always going to be tens or hundreds of game cancelations, rescheduling, etc. The LHSAA may be in for a shock at how loose-goosey this sport operates.
But in truth, the LHSAA is not particularly good at posting up-to-date results when they are charged with keeping the records. Take a look at basketball for instance - if you can find it on their site - ... many people check Ken's site to see latest BB results becaue of the time lag on the LHSAA.
For soccer, I suspect this site will have more, not less, interaction and will still be the place to go for up to date results ... especially if the LHSAA site (?) does not keep up with the pace of play. Incidentally - does anyone know where is the LHSAA website is, and what format, etc.?

And I'd say get rid of pokle but I like to have somebody to pick on to keep me entertained. I can't get rid of Paul, what would I do with out all of his hard work that I get thanked for. You were the most expendable, even though you do a lot of the hard work that I get thanked for.
