It's not ALWAYS about a beautiful possession game. I've watched my daughter's team play some great possession and come away at the end of the match with a loss and scoreless. You do what it takes, and plan strategies accordingly. The coaches may have seen an opportunity to wear out the defense. It may have just worked out that way, as sometimes the players take it into their own hands. Aesthetics doesn't win games. Fun to watch, but not always the best choice. I will guarantee you that SSA's M.O. is not long ball. Too much talent down that way.

I watched SSA play for the first time against Lafayette and they were a very talented team that deserved to win. Their style of play though was not aesthetically pleasing as throughout the game they constantly tried to go over the top of Lafayette's defenders, instead of creating opportunities through passing. Is this this SSA's normal style of play or was just their game plan against Lafayette? Not trying to be critical, just curious? Finally, congrats to SSA for the win. That type of direct play is unfortunately a result of the field surface and width at Tad. Hard to get wide and hard to keep wide balls from going too long or out. Ball bounces too much as well. It was also due to a concerted effort by a very good LHS side to play a defensive game.
