Coaches:
We will look forward to hosting our annual tournament on December 29 and 30 of 2014. If you are interested, please send me a PM or an email at Sean.Esker@stpsb.org. As always, we plan to offer four matches for each participating team and multiple divisions based on the level of your team's play.

I noticed Mandeville is playing 4 of their 5 games in the stadium. HA! Go Figure!

Changes being made to Lakeshore schedule

Actually, guest should be treated be treated better than the host teams. When we you have quest over to your home they always come first. Unfortunately, in tournaments (club and school)the host teams usually treat the guest as second class citizens (worst playing times, worst fields and draw).

For the record, Lakeshore does not run this tournament; although they do run concessions at the Lakeshore High school venue. Technically, Lakeshore is a "guest" too; even though it's their home field.

Please note that the schedule posted above was distributed as a "Draft" schedule to coaches for review and input. Match times and field assignments are still being finalized, so it is premature to assume those are finalized based on input received from coaches as requested yesterday.

Lakeshore Stadium: Barbe 1; BR 3; Loyola 1; Hahnville 2; Bryd 3; STJ 1; Dominican 2; Vandy 2; FHS 1; DeR 1; NHS 2; W. Monroe 1; Pkwy 2; Acadiana 1; Mt. Carmel 1; Mandeville 4; Lakeshore 0 Since Lakeshore runs concessions, it would be nice to have them play on the stadium field so the parents will be able to watch the game and work.

If the schedule / field assignments posted above was a "draft" then it shouldn't have been posted. Nothing in the schedule posting above indicates it is a draft version.

My prior post was not meant to attack Mandeville or Lakeshore and I apologize if it was perceived that way. Instead, it was general statement about how some tournaments treat their guest or their consumer. I'm all for soccer but I'm not all for soccer when you travel four to five hours to a tournament and have a eight o'clock morning game, a hour and a half rest between games and play the host team who has not played yet(not this tournament). I suspect the risk to my child being injured would significantly increase(tired legs vs. fresh legs). I realize scheduling a tournament is hard work, scheduling games is problematic and not everyone is going to be happy with their draw. However, the tournament director in any tournament should try to follow the golden rule of treating your guest as you would want yourself treated.Ultimately, if the consumer feels they are being treated poorly they will go elsewhere.

I did not post it for exactly that reason.

I did not post it for exactly that reason. Duely noted that you did not post the schedule. Apparently somebody else went rogue.

Obviously the one who posted it had to get it from someone.

I look forward to the day these posts have more positive support for one another. Our team is happy to have been accepted in this tournament and are looking forward to playing and seeing exceptional soccer. So Mandeville plays the majority in the stadium, so does Baton Rouge. At the end of the day you make a decision to be in the tournament for what it is knowing that the host team may have slight benefits. Second class citizens? We don't feel that way, we are more focused on the challenge at hand. Once again it seems as if so many are quicker to judge and criticize rather than support each other. I for one am thankful my child has the ability to play a game she loves on any field, against any opponent and under any other conditions... Ditto

Is the schedule above final or still a draft?

The original schedule (posted above) was sent to coaches as a preliminary draft to show match ups and general times so people could make travel plans. The revised final schedule was emailed to coaches yesterday. I will wait for Timbertwin to post since he is the tournament director. There have been some slight changes made to game times and who plays where. Bottom line, your coach has received it and can communicate it to their respective teams and parents. I'm sure it will be posted soon.

If you have ever scheduled tournaments you will know the amount of requests and conflicts that you receive. You would be amazed how many times people complain when it was their own coach who requested a particular schedule. Usually these requests involve arriving late and getting home early. Would you rather play a 12pm and 4pm game and then drive home 5 hours? Or incur another night of expenses in a hotel? Most directors do their best to try and accommodate everyone to the best of their ability.

No matter how poorly you think the schedue is for your team, the referees is worse. Only people other than tourney host who must be at fields for every game, from start to stop. Of course, not the same crew every game Having been involved in numerous club tourneys, know that for every one that comes here and complains, there are many others who know it is a thankless job and just come to support their kids and hope their team wins...and appreciate the work of the hosts!

Sorry, nowhere in the e-mail I received did it indicate this was a draft schedule. I can either remove it or edit to the updated version. Let me know what you'd like me to do.
