But ... that doesn't mean he won't play college football, he probably will. Not playing HS football this fall avoids scholarship ending injury.

So not a single person from BR can tell us about a potential DI prospect? Or is this article full of it?

St. Michael played Dunham my junior year when he was a freshman, and we beat them easily like 24-0. From what I remember, he looked pretty talented, but not a world beater by any means. Maybe he didn't break out until his sophomore season.

Who's the coach at Dunham? Seriously, I'd like to know if Ryan Bartow just said he was a DI soccer prospect to better promote athleticism being the primary attribute or if the kid is actually that good.

I believe he only played at Dunham last season and it was just for a few games. He gave up soccer to pursue basketball. Then he ended up moving out of state again. He was @ some school in Mississippi 9-10 grade.

He was @ some school in Mississippi 9-10 grade. That sounds more likely than what I can "remember" from two seasons ago. I do remember Dunham had a tall, fast athletic receiver #24 (just like him in the video) and the name Drake Davis does sound familiar, but it's possible it wasn't him. I can't find a lot of information about him. Possibly played football in Illinois his freshman year. Then maybe moved to Mississippi, then Baton Rouge, then Virginia. Perhaps he has a father in the military or something. This article seemed to good to be true, and it's getting more fishy by the minute. Has he always played soccer or did he just pick it up in high school? Or does he not play at all and the article is full of it? I have no doubt he could become a good goalkeeper with a few months of elite training, but the rest of the positions in soccer aren't something you can just pick up and immediately be the best on the field, no matter how athletic you are. I don't buy the argument that any world-class athlete can be successful in professional soccer, with the exception of goalkeeping. Just imagine a goalkeeper with the reflexes of Nick Rimando, the intelligence of Tim Howard, and the athleticism and size of LeBron James that has been training all his life. No one would ever score against the USA on a cross or corner kick! LeBron James could be an amazing keeper with a year or so of training. I don't think the USA will ever have a shortage of great goalkeepers. It has always been our greatest strength.

Top Drawer Soccer is saying the same thing: *** His change-of-heart to soccer is a bit strange though. Davis is a mystery in college soccer recruiting. There is hardly any mention of him from the prep scene.
In a Q&A with prepforce.com in April, Davis said that he was going to Europe during the summer to play soccer. “I’m going to Spain for a Barcelona soccer camp,” Davis said. “So I’ll have to see how that goes also.” Davis went on to say he could see himself playing soccer at “the next level” in the Q&A. *** You can read the full article at: Football or Futbol: Big Time Recruit picks soccer

Sorry, but I'm not buying the hype.
First, I'm sick of the "if only our best athletes played soccer" whining. That only further proves the vast majority of people in this country still don't "get it"!
At 6"4 and 215, he's really too big to be an outfield player anyway. Unless he drops about 25 lbs.
Now, anywhere else in the world he'd be a rugby player.
His track times are good but not great. If he's that good a soccer player, he'd be picked up by a DA club...especially in Virginia.
Even as a keeper, you need good feet. Especially if you are going to play at a high level.
If he's playing both forward and center back, then that doesn't say much for his high school's level of play. Not to mention that he obviously isn't playing high level club soccer.
That said, I'm sure there's some low level college kickball coach that may take a chance on him.
TDS just lost a lot of credibility with me.
