Good news...
The annual LHSSCA boys soccer pre season rankings will return this coming Monday! The rankings will be released shortly before being discussed on Monday Night Futbol radio show/podcast.
Some notes about this years process...
we have gone full digital technology! Ballots are released to the voters as Google documents ballots with drop down menus for each spot that has all of their divisions teams listed. All the voters have to do is pick a team from drop down menu at each of the 15 ranking slots, type name in blank and hit submit.
Invalid ballots with errors will be flagged and thrown out. We do have a couple of alternates on waiting list if ballots are not submitted by Sunday Nights deadline.
Each week (starting after Week 1 of the regular season) the poll will be publically released here on LaPrep on Monday.
The LHSSCA members voting are confidential, but the make up,of each divisions voters represent the make up of that divisions state geographic numbers (example, for most cases, each district is represented by an LHSSCA member). If there is a case where that isn't possible or an alternate is needed for that voter, the replacement LHSSCA member voting will be from that geographical area. That has actually always been our policy since reviving the poll years ago.
While the rankings may not mean as much as the last few seasons due to coaches seeding being replaced by Power Ratings... It is still widely respected around the state as it is officially recognized as the high school soccer rankings by the LSWA and printed in newspapers and their websites around the state each week. We (at the LHSSCA) are very proud of the success of our weekly rankings and hope that they will continue to be the standard by which teams are ranked every season! Sure we will have weekly power ratings, but it will always be fun to compare the opinions of those in the trenches to the mathematical formula that will decide the playoff seedings! What a great and exciting year we have ahead! I'm sure their will be lots to discuss and probably some controversies with both the rankings and power ratings!
So so there you have it... Our annual first official big post of the season is just a few days away, usually signaling the official beginning of the high school soccer season! We should have more announcements upcoming on how we will and,e power ratings posting and schedules here on LaPrep, but as you probably know... The LHSAA will have all teams schedules and mandatory score reporting so for the first time ever, we will have 100% accuracy in these areas! A season of forsts ahead! Reminder that all of you coaches should have already input your schedules (due by November 3) and completed your online rules clinic (deadline extended to October 31). Get used to your lhsaaonline login... You will use it often! I feel LaPrep will become more of a coaches, fans, and players discussion format now as we dissect the data and rankings/power ratings and all results and schedules now! This is definitely the most exciting season we (LHSSCA) have had since taking over the LaPrep website and we are excited about many of our future new announcements and events upcoming, including the new super soccer weekend for high school which will include all 3 nights of our boys and girls state championship games, our boys and girls all star games and most likely our annual LHSSCA membership meeting and possibly many other exciting events all taking place in New Orleans during that same weekend! So start making plans to be in NOLA for that entire weekend (starting Thursday through Sunday) for one great ending to the season!
NOW...Let it the fun begin... And good luck to all!
Chad Vidrine (LHSSCA VP of Boys)
PS--- much thanks to my new LHSSCA boys assistant Jeremy Poklemba! He is the main man behind our new technological advances in poll voting this season as well as other upcoming things we will use!
