Some thoughts:
Division I 1. Baton Rouge (1-1-2) seems a little high. Not a very impressive showing at the St. Amant Tournament. Meanwhile, Denham Springs (4-0-1) was impressive there and tied Baton Rouge and were co-champs.
2. Jesuit seems really high at this point. At 1-0-1 and with a ton of young players, not sure if I understand the jump to #2 other than name recognition. Brother Martin, on the other hand, is now 2-0 with wins against Acadiana and Ben Franklin, whom Jesuit also beat. The Acadiana win should have boosted Brother Martin ahead of Jesuit.
3. Grace King (1-1) is true to Irish Fro's refrain "we get no respect." What does this team have to do? Yes, they lost to St. Paul's, but a 1-0 loss against the clear front runners away should be rewarded. Especially for a team that was in the state championship last year. A scrimmage win against Brother Martin also should be factored in at this early juncture in the season. I'm not sure if GK is #2 in the state right now, but at the least, they've earned that ranking at this point. #7 is just disrespectful.
4. Catholic BR (1-0-2) seems about right, but you could interchange them with Mandeville, who at 3-0-1, with 3 quality wins and a tie against Catholic should be higher than #8. At this point in the season, I see the top 5 as St. Paul's, Grace King, Mandeville, Lafayette, and Brother Martin. Catholic BR and Jesuit are nipping at their heels.
5. Captain Shreve and St. Amant haven't really been tested, so we'll see in the coming weeks, like with the rest.
6. As for the nearly infinite list of those receiving votes, there are definitely a few head scratchers. On no sensible planet should Holy Cross, whose only result is a loss to Destrehan, have a voter's top ten vote. Airline with 8 votes? Fontainebleau with 7? Rummel and Alexandria with nearly 20 combined? Let's follow the results this year and not familiar names.
Division II
1. Beau Chene, Vandebilt, and Ben Franklin seem like all have a legitimate argument for #1. Beau Chene and Vandebilt's two quality wins are probably equally impressive: New Iberia and Sulphur for BC and Lusher and Rummel for Vandebilt. Franklin (1-2-1) returns a lot of talent this year and their scheduling shows they are intent on making it back to back. To start the season against Jesuit, Brother Martin, Newman, and Bolton and have an aggregate score of 2-3 might be more impressive than either Vandebilt or BC's results so far. I think the first place votes should have been a little more equally dispersed among the top 3 at this point, but that will get sorted soon enough.
2. St. Thomas More (0-1-1) seems a bit high as well, possibly benefiting from name recognition. Nice result to get a tie from a decent Alexandria squad, but big loss to Acadiana should have hurt them a little more in the rankings.
3. St. Michael (3-1) lost by 6 to Denham Springs. Other results indicate that blowout may have been a fluke or does it show how good Denham Springs is? I would have thought such a loss would have hurt them more in the rankings.
4. Morgan City (2-0) with wins over Teurlings Catholic and Terrebonne is again falling under the radar. Maybe that's where they want to be. The fact that Morgan City has 36 votes while Teurlings (0-2) has 31 votes shows the power of habit and name recognition.
5. Why does DeSoto (1-2) have a vote? With 8 goal and 7 goal losses to Caddo Magnet and Parkway respectively, seems that vote was undeserved. Loyola (0-1) with loss to Evangel getting 23 votes also is a stretch.
Division III
I think it's really good at this point. Not a lot of games played, so it's hard to know much yet.
Overall the coaches did a great job on these rankings. Hard task with so few games at this point. As always, the rankings sort themselves out as the year goes on.

One thing to keep in mind is that coaches vote for a top 15. Not sure if that changes your opinion on worthy of receiving votes. Just wanted to point out that some of these programs are not receiving top-10 votes. Who should have got that vote in d2?

No respect for Grace King. If anything they should be well ahead of Acadiana and Brother Martin. I was told that King was going to play Brother Martin today and was cancelled because 2 of Brother Martin Players are in Odp camp.In my opinion that game should of have been played. They will be playing Vandebilt this weekend will see how they do. They will be missing 3 tarters for that game from what I was told. But it should be a good game both are runner's ups in their division from last years state championship. But one has more respect than the other one.

Who cares about rankings anyway! Coaches have their favorites and teams have their reputations. There is one trophy awarded at seasons end and it goes to the team that wins the final game! Don't put too much stock and concern into the WEEK 1 rankings! If the power ranking system has anything to do with it, some teams will drop drastically and some climb.

Deridder is a DII team that as long as I can remember hasn't broken top 15. They just beat #15 Desoto 4-0 and could easily compete with 9-15 in DII. They deserve to be up there.
