So Jabriel Hall of evangel, a school ranked 17th overall in the lowest division with a record of 3-5-0 is the top player for a week... Interesting

Looks like he had 8 goals and 1 assist against Red River.

It also showed he played in a JV game as a senior this year with 1 assist. I was under the impression it was against LHSAA rules for a senior to play JV. I may be wrong.

I have a lot of respect for the Evangel coach (Francois Browne) and the fact that he is trying to build a program. More importantly, doing it the right way.
But..I'm sorry...Evangel doesn't have that kind of talent. Not yet anyway.
Anyone know how the selection criteria works?

It's obviously opening up discussion about a kid we never heard before. So in some aspects it's a good thing.

If I had to guess, it's a pure numbers thing. The stats get entered and the person entering the stats has the ability nominate the player for player of the game. The system then generates a player of the week based on player of the game nominations and point totals. While I might not agree with the way the stats were earned for that week, I think it's a good thing for a kid from a non power school to have the ability to be recognized for having a good week. In the end, I don't think it is anymore that what it is, a pat on the back from a system designed to keep stats.
