We have no control over the music, but the comments over the police radio are hilarious.

I have to say, the ending of this matching was exciting, unexpected and stunning to everyone in Tad.... It appeared that the players, and coaches had begin to prepare mentally and tactically for extratime, and the free kick was to be the last competitive play in regular time. I was sitting with another fan waiting for the boys championship match, when he said, "wouldn't it be something if they scored right here". Everyone seemed to be settling in for 20 more minutes of futbol, when BAMMMMM!! the free kick was rocketed off the crossbar, and deflected straight down. From my angle it looked like the ball bounced down beyond the line for the score, (the AR was in perfect position down the line to see and make the proper call), and back into the playing field. It appeared a Byrd defender had inside position to get to the the deflection first and clear it, but a MCA player managed to get through/around/over her to poke it home. Everyone in the stadium reacted, whether it was to scream in ecstasy, or slap hands to faces in stunned shock! I was punching my neighbor on his shoulder screaming "you called it, you called it!!"
It was one of the more thrilling endings to a championship match I've ever seen! (yeaaah no PKs). The buzz in the stadium from joy for MCA to empathy for Byrd (for falling in such a sudden and devastating way) was intoxicating. I was reveling in the ending of the match, and I was there for the boys final. Boy you gotta love this game!!

Great game. Looked like MCA Just wanted it a little more tonight. This is a nonsense phrase that should probably be retired and in this case it's a little offensive to Byrd. To suggest somehow they didn't want it enough is absurd for anyone who saw their reactions after the final whistle, and I feel confident Mt. Carmel's coach would agree. He graciously spoke with me after the match and made sure to praise his team's work ethic while also making it clear he wasn't suggesting Byrd didn't work just as hard. They wouldn't have been in the state title game if they hadn't. The Cubs absolutely earned their win, but it's still fair to say they were somewhat fortunate and it could have easily ended differently.

Shreveportluke, I totally agree with you about the statement of "MCA wanting it more." I'm an MCA fan/dad and I could easily tell that all the Byrd players played their hearts out. No evidence is more clear than watching #7 go down with a big injury only to come back hoping to make the difference. To me, that says a lot about who she is as a player and the leadership she showed her teammates as a senior. That is a special quality in an athlete and I'm sure that leadership goes well beyond the soccer fields. I wish her and the other seniors on the Byrd team the very best wherever their future may bring them. Congrats to both teams for making it to the State Championship game. Go Cubs!

A poor choice of words on my part. It was a great game as I stated above. Great seasons by both teams. Just curious how do you think they were fortunate and could have ended differently?
