Statistical advantage to the team that kicks first. 60+%. Some officials of UEFA see an unfair advantage. They are looking to end the alternate kicks. To alternate rounds of going first. After reg, stoppage, ot, golden goal...if it is tied then the teams are evenly matched. Yes maybe one team didn't get the fortunate bouncing of the ball. That's life. Sounds like an epic match was played.. Bravo to Lake shore and HC. Both strong teams from New Orleans Metro...like tomorrow and Saturday night.

Let’s give the victors congratulations before we discredit them as “not the better side.” Clearly a close match, if there was really a better team we wouldn’t have reached kicks. Sounds like 2 evenly matched squads that one was able to convert KFTM when it was crunch time. I have to respectfully disagree. The game was competitive but I thought Lakeshore was the better side. Congrats on the victory but I’m a reporter and my view is as written. You are the reporter everyone can have an opinion they played 3 times this year HC won all 3 This one went to PKs obviously great game by both clubs. Nothing but respect for Lakeshore Beau Chene and could name a couple more. Congratulations to HC and a great group of graduating seniors 2 titles 1 runner-up. Hats off to their families great group of young men. Go Tigers 🐯

I would have put the senior in. The only reason I could see him not being is was if he was really tired or hurt from playing the field

Pretty difficult to beat a team 3 times in a year and probably why it was so close. And Lakeshore were good tonight 💯

My final thoughts on this game and the championship venue thus far:
1) One would be hard pressed to declare a loser in this game but then again the rules were followed and within the boundaries of those rules Holy Cross is the winner. They’re very good and won the match fair and square. 2) The officiating was the best I’ve seen all year and that’s saying a lot because it’s been very good from my seat all season. 3) Lakeshore had a beautiful disposition after the game especially the seniors and Ice baby. No sulking, heads held high and they expressed love and gratitude to their large fan base. 4) The effort put into this venue to make it special by Chad (Beau Chene coach) Adrian (St. Amant Coach) and many others is impressive. I know there are many others that are putting a great deal of time and effort into this as well. Thanks to each of you for being selfless. 5) The field is spectacular and has held up amazing. I love the game on grass and hope we get more first class venues like this in our state. It takes more than just a few to grow the sport. Everyone give back to the game and come out and support these games. It’s the least we can do to build a brighter future for our soccer in this state.
Great job to all and I hope to see many of you Saturday rain or shine.

Huh...so at least 2 public schools don’t advance for keeper reasons. Dutchtown due to having the shortest guy on team playing goalie and now Lakeshore not using Region 3 ODP keeper in KFTMs in Final? I think they don’t advance because 2 players just missed their pk. Both keepers saved one, which is great. One correction Holy Cross Keeper saved 1st and last PK just for accuracy.

Congratulations to holy cross and Matt and Stu!
Not a big fan of the school being old catholic league rivals and what not but I respect the hell out of their program and Stu is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet!
3 finals appearances in 3 years with 2 titles is respectable at any division!

Congratulations to our Brothers on the East side of Mandeville, getting to the Finals is amazing! You have a top coach and have had great results for such a young program.
Also Congratulations to Holy Cross!

An amazing run for the Tigers! Coaches Matt & Stu (and Luke, now at Delta State) are to be commended for what they've accomplished in just a few short years. Not much noise made in soccer at Holy Cross before these guys got there.
Hats off to the team and especially the Seniors. Three of them are four-year starters including Fuentes, Garvey and MVP/GK Dugal. The Holy Cross seniors played in a state final vs STM as Freshmen, a state semifinal vs Alexandria as Sophomores, and then won state as Juniors vs Beau Chene and again as Seniors beating an impressive Lakeshore team for a third time this season. Both teams wanted it but I think that deep experience tipped the scales last night. What a run!
