Both proposals for reunification in all sports (with an enrollment multiplier for select schools) fail. A proposal to have eight classes (adding 6A) with a 1.25 multiplier for select schools got more than 50% of the votes, but not the 2/3 majority needed to change the constitution.

9th graders being eligible for JV out of the attendance zone is a good start in my opinion. I’m for that approval. Item 19 pertains to varsity eligibility, right? It’s being proposed by Lee Magnet, so I would assume that’s the case

Most of our private schools were only given 1 feeder school, whereas there are several private and public schools that naturally feed into them. Magnet to Magnet feeds were not approved. The vote makes it the same as it was this year, which is better than what it could have been with Freshman not eligible for any play, but still leaves hundreds of kids not being able to play Varsity as Freshman. It needs to go back to the way it was worded the year before this year.

The only change that should be made to LA soccer is the final bracket . Have a 1-16 public school side of the state bracket and a 1-16 private side. State champ from public school plays state champ from private for the overall state championship. This would satisfy everyone and level the field perfectly. If anyone thinks that St. Amant is on a level playing field with St. Paul, Catholic, Jesuit, Brother Martin and etc you are delusional. We have 8 soccer players and 8 athletes on our varsity team and 24 total kids in our program. Dutchtown is in a similar boat and 1-2 injuries to us is like these other teams missing 7-8. I can name 4 kids that play at Catholic that are from Ascension Parish and these are just 4 I know. I cannot name one that plays at St. Amant that lives in anybody else’s district. So if you want a quick easy fix be willing to play your own kind to crown the kings. Best thing I’ve read all day!
