The times picayune reported this morning that E.D. White lost to Belle Chase 1-0. I think that has to be a misprint, can anyone verify this for me before I make my poll.

The EDW v. Belle Chase match was to be played in Thibodaux. Although the Times-Picayune has BC winning 1-0 and with game deatils, the game was NOT played. The write-up even goes so far to give the BC player's name that scored the only- imaginary- goal! BC never showed up @ EDW, and the refs called a forfeit.

Absolutely amazing detail in that report for a game that was never actually played. It boggles the mind how the Times could publish this.
To set things straight. Game was scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday January 8th in Thibodaux acoording to EDW's schedule. Refs left about 1:30 because Belle Chasse was not there. I am not sure what happened with Belle Chasse. Must have been some type of miscommunication between the coaches. Maybe someone from Belle Chasse could let us know. I am sure both teams would like to make up this game.

It's been brought up that Belle Chasse may have thought the game was over there and called a forfeit to maybe favor them??
If the forfeit would hold up, there would be a 3-way tie for first place!! At least this is what coulda happen as brought to my attention by an E.D.White Parent

The only problem is that if the article went into detail about how the goal was scored and such is an article misprint. A file of false statements and could be penaltilized, so i don't know why they would print it??? Would be wonderful to read the article

How in the world could something this stupid happen? This is the third such incident that I have heard of in the last two weeks where a team either went to a place for a game where no game was scheduled, or that a game was scheduled with referees and no visiting team showed up. Im just flabbergasted that something like this can happen in this day and age--with wireless communication and electronic mail. In our district, the district chairman (every district is responsible for a district chairman--LHSAA) makes the district schedule and passses it out to the teams. At that point the teams will resubmit any changes that they make, and the games are then submitted to the local referee assignor. As most districts make their schedules in March, there really shouldnt be any conflicts by THIS time of the season. If the district chairman for ED White and Belle Chasse looks at the schedule, that person could tell us who was supposed to play where. If one team or the other was at fault, then the non-at-fault team should be given the option of allowing the game to be made up, or accepting a forfeit. If referees were at ED White for the game, that leads me to believe that ED White was the properly scheduled home team and therefore wouldnt be at fault for this mix up. As for the story being submitted to the Times-Picayune--something just isnt right there.
Doesnt anyone either call or email to confirm games anymore? I do it regardless of the length of time that the game has been scheduled, or whether or not it is a district game. I just feel more comfortable knowing that there are no conflicts, and if there are, I would prefer to reschedule rather than have something silly happen. In our district (4-D1) our communication network is tremendous, and we all have regular contact with each other. I would recommend that some of these coaches tighten up--I would hate to have to face my players and their parents if we made a trip somewhere and the other team wasnt there, and I sure wouldn't blame them if they were ticked off.

you can find the Times-Picayune write up at : www.nola.com/search/index.ssf?/base/sports-16/1105257323268960.xml?nolaOr ...it reads... District 6-III Belle Chasse 1, E.D. White 0 Kurt Kleinpeter scored the only goal of the game in the second half for Belle Chasse. Winning goalie: Matt Comeaux. Halftime score: 0-0. Records: Belle Chasse 8-7, 1-2; E.D.White n/a. THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AT ALL!

Thanks. It looks like a prank by one of the Belle Chasse players or supporters, assuming their record is right. Local papers depend on team reps/supporters in these small articles, and pranks like that make it harder for them to print soccer articles. This is bad.
