Yes we have what the world has the best to offer at this time!
Maybe, but then again, maybe not for everyone...So now we need you, the younger generation to step in and make constructive suggestions on how to get to the next level in our great game of soccer.
I care for all chidren and mine especially; and I hope you will for yours, we all want our children to have a fair chance in life, a chance at a fair playing field. Right now the playing field is not what you could call levelled off: we want to become more inclusive, we don't want any of the same old boy mentallity anymore, I pat you on the back, you do the same with me...and i'll play your child.
Our sport of soccer for the sake of our children and soon YOURS, the younger generation should no longer have to live this through... You must make sure our sport becomes more inclusive, more affordable for all, and YOU must start to change the old ways of having teams controlled by always the same "ins" from U5 until U19, who will favor their kids over more deserving ones, who will make sure all the priviledges like wearing captain bands, or taking free kicks, or PKs, of getting all the attention from the newspaper, or all the awards at the banquet, of the same players starting and finishing games and everything in between, always end up with the same "in-crowd" people's children.
Isn't it time for YOU the next generation of player/coaches to step up to the plate and to say we can do better, what you did grown ups was not bad at all, was even great from where you started it all, you have come a long way, thank you for all you did; but now give us a chance to prove ourselves, it is our turn to move things forward even better, even stronger, and more importantly even faster...
Yes, you can say we are doing well right now, so why change....? Don't they say if the wheel ain't broken...
Yes but isn't it time for teams from Lafayette, or from Louisiana to start leaving their marks at the regional level, or national level. Yes you can say we do get there...you are correct some teams from here do qualify automatically, but it is often teams from Texas, Florida, Carolina, or Colorado who end up picking all the chips from the table, and we are the ones falling short of our primary goals.
Yes our teams from Lafayette in U11, U12, U13, U14, and even sometimes U15, are very successful in most places of ...LOUSIANA, and even sometimes as far in between as SAN ANTONIO, JACKSON, or TAMPA; but we need to start making our statement more often at the next level...on a more consistent basis... When we think about it the bulk of our select players or best high school players end up playing college under TOPS In State.. would you think that it was worth the costly investment put in the players throughout the years to attend all those select camps and out of state tournaments for so called national exposure?
Most Lafayette "successful players" start playing college but few finish their four years...tooo demanding, the exceptions from Lafayette are few and far in between if you consider that we have now from instance over 3000 younger ones involved each year... Hats off to Ellen DeClouet All-American at Auburn was it?
But the candle light start dimming, dimmming, dimming very quickly with our older ones..why...the girls for instance have a hard time even fielding an 18 player roster in U16; U17; or U18/19, worse the so talented and numerous candle lights of our younger players as they grow up burn out inexplicably so fast and inextricably to extinction...
YOU can do better, YOUNGER GENERATION step up to the plate for the next generation, show the grown ups the way at keeping the light burning over "our" country, like a lighthouse of hope, as "our" AMERICAN FLAG WAVES forever OVER THE LAND... OF THE BRAVE!
YOU MUST BE BRAVE and must start to let YOUR light shine upon us!
