I just found out that Walker HS is disbanding its boys team effective today. Does anybody have any insight on this?

Didn't Evangel also disband this year? Who is next after Walker, will it be Morgan City, or John Curtis or Denham Springs, or Bogalusa, or Chalmette or St Augustine?
Did Walker have a competent, caring coach?
Were they beaten 10-0 in every game, or worse. OK, everyone who doesn't see anything wrong with a 17-0 or 12-0 game, you may pile on.
Why do only the Class 5A football schools have soccer, plus a few others? Why do you have to have 1600 students in a school for a soccer program to exist?

Ok shellshocker, since you issued the invitation. As coachray himself knows loosing 17-0 or 12-0 is not a reason to disband a program. Coach Ray expierenced this himself at East Ascension. But he did not give up and managed to inspire those who played for him not to give up but to persist. The result is that today East Ascension has a legitimate soccer program. I don't know what is going on in Walker. I do know that Livingston is historically a hard core baseball and basketball parish. But with all the population growth that they are expierencing they must surly have enough people to establish, build and continue a good soccer culture in that parish.

yes evangel did disband their soccer program...one of the reasons was most of their players come from the football program if not all of the players...they wanted to reschedule al of their games after their football season so they could actually play some but then some people thought it was unfair that they can postpone every game in november-december and play almost everyday in january

the way evangel played soccer was disgraceful. They might as well call it pre-spring practice rather than the soccer season. Trust me that every team that ever played evangel was glad they quit.

yes they were very embarrasing...i think they've really only had a couple of good players over the years...one i know of is patrick spears...he was a friend of my brothers and he was a good player...but they just field football players...northwood is pretty much the same way...they go in and see in the first 10-15 minutes who your best 2 players are and then they just go after them...they will do whatever it takes to hurt you and take you out...they don't care whether it will end your career..as long as you aren't playing against them...i hate to play against those kind of teams...you just go in there playing scared and just thinking to yourself that you don't want to get hurt in a pointless game like this...it is a disgrace to soccer

I feel bad for the Walker guys who want to play soccer. They played short-handed several games this season, even 7 vs. 11, but hung in there. I hope the program can be resurrected soon. Props to these 7 samurai.
