I couldn't post on the Shreve Magnet thread, so I will use this thread to discuss the removal of jersey on the pitch.
This was voted on last February, effective July 1, 2004 as part of Law 12, new Decision 6. The governing body found that shirt removal is a time wasting tactic and must be cautioned -- a yellow card. It is deemed to be removal if the shirt is just pulled up to cover the head.
I have seen a bench player receive a yellow for this, but believe it incorrect since the bench player was in no way wasting time. (The player had left the field, sat down and doffed his shirt).
Go to ussoccer.com, and see memo dated June 29, 2004. There is an interesting slide show illustrating the nuances of this new decision.

Rule 12 Section 8 of the NFHS rule book states discusses behavior after scoring a goal. Item D states removal of shirt (The referee shall disqualify the player for excessive celebration. I thought he could be replaced but after reading the book I'm not sure. Page 57 of the book. Section 12.8.1 and 2 Situation A.
Anyone know?

Shrevedad I think that the removal of shirt would fall under Rule 12 Section 8 Article 2 on page 55 of the rule book. It says that the number of players on the field shall not be reduced for those infractions.

No problem and it also applies to player (s) on the field, coaches or bench personnel.

What about removing your jersey after already being red carded? Other than the fact that you've already been removed how is that any different?
