The E.D. White Catholic High School boys’ soccer team had its eyesight tested Monday night against Grace King.
The non-district game saw E.D. White trying to keep track of its opponent’s blinding speed.

In the end, E.D. White’s senior night ended with the score tied at 3 against the Fighting Irish.
EDW now has an 11-7-3 overall record and is 3-1 in district play.
“They were by far the fastest team we have faced this season,” EDW coach Mary Cavell said. “I thought our players in the center did a great job. On defense, I also thought we played well. In the second half, we started to play a little sluggish on defense, but that’s just a credit to the Fighting Irish and their team speed.”
The Cardinals scored early and often in the first half, as they netted three goals.
Allen Crochet put the first goal in the net off a Michael Grabert assist in the ninth minute. In the 24th minute, Todd Magee scored thanks to a Nick Soignier assist.
The Cardinals final goal came with 3:53 remaining in the first half on a long distance Crochet netter.
Grace King (12-3-2, 9-1) finally struck back with 1:33 left in the first half on Javier Jalice’s goal.
The second half saw the Fighting Irish scoring two goals to tie the game at 3. Early in the period, Oscar Ayala found the back of the net, while teammate Julian Larguespada did the same in the 68th minute.
“Even though we fell behind 3-0, I never felt concerned about my guys because they were playing there game,” Grace King coach Matt Millet said. “They have a more direct style than we have. We try to slow the game down and rely on our passing. It was a good game between two contrasting styles. I’m proud of the way my guys kept prodding away, which eventually led to us leaving here with a tie.”
Both teams attempted 16 shots. Magee led the way for EDW with six shots-on-goal. Jalice, who attempted five shots, paced the way for Grace King.
