I think both programs will have strengths as well as weaknesses. The goal of both is/should be developing better soccer players in Louisiana thus increasing visibility to the players at the next level (College/MLS Academy). I still don’t understand the constant need to tear down the various programs in the state. But whatever makes you feel better at night. I'm not tearing down the Rush situation. This is really an apples to oranges comparison. futbalfan asked if these teams played who do we think would win. I was sharing my opinion based on his question??? I think there is a place for all programs in Louisiana including all divisions in LCSL or REC. All kids have different requirements to get out of soccer what they need. LATDP is a year round commitment and the Rush Elite 64 is supplemental program to the Rush club teams. It allows those top players to get a few games at a higher level with minimal training commitment. They both have their place based on the kids commitment level or club. The Elite 64 teams will have a much smaller impact on Louisiana soccer exposure as only a couple players from Louisiana will even be on each team. I think only 1 from the 08B Cajun Rush team, but I'm not super familiar with those players. Kudos to Rush for giving options as long as we don't try to split the state into two MLS level teams, we barely have the talent for one team!

Rush combined teams may have similar talent if their top players are willing to do it, but meeting a few times a year and playing limited games will make it tough to compete at same level as TDP. These Rush teams will rarely see competition like the MLS Next Frontier league. I think this is more similar to ODP but possibly more talent. Louisiana ODP was pulling the top talent 3 years ago before programs like LA United diluted the pot and then LATDP Elite combined that talent back together in a much better format (year round 3 nights a week, top competition, etc...) Maybe the Elite 64 Rush team would be interested in a friendly match in the Fall and we won't have to guess! Looks like la TDP elite girls have recently played a Cajun rush and lobos rush team. /?d=n Looks like TDP girls went 6-2-1 vs non combined Rush teams. The difference with the girls this season vs moving forward is TDP was supplemental for the girls similar to what the Rush teams will do with Elite 64. TDP girls moving into the GA will be full-time club team like the boys and practice mostly year round and hopefully combine the talent from around the state. Some age groups won't have "all" the talent like 07Gs (the top two teams are Sting aka BVB and Cajun Rush, both who likely will not participate if I had to guess). All exciting programs compared to a few years ago!

If you have seen the structure for how Rush will be handling and practicing, you are in very rare company. You make several assumptions I take issue with: 1. All the best players are committed to play year round and play TDP. But how many 1st Team All State players were TDP? Not near as many as many would think. 2. Rush Team will take part in a league with 63 other top programs, with huge opportunities to get the training and visibility we need in LA, but use it as a side gig. Yeah, very likely. 3. Only a couple players from LA will be on them. You sure do have a low opinion of LA soccer. Being part of this league is a huge win for Louisiana. Just as getting an MLS Next team was last year. Even when “not tearing down the Rush situation”, you just can’t help but do it.

Even when “not tearing down the Rush situation”, you just can’t help but do it. I literally said I was guessing on some of this. But how often do YOU think kids ranging from Florida to Louisiana will get together and practice? 3 times a week? Once a week? 4 times a year? I can speak mostly for 2008B. We have 1 Rush c1 team and they are 2nd to last in that division. They might have a couple 08s make the team, but probably just 1. That's not great representation. TDP is a first year program why would you compare who made all-state. Even if a TDP kid did, you couldn't claim it was for TDP. Older age groups had lesser participation. 08s had almost every kid they wanted. Yes there were a few more we wanted, and probably a few we don't know about as well. Again, I'm all for every soccer program in the state, every level. I love kids playing soccer. A guy asked what do people think and I said what I thought. I think TDP with the MLS Next platform is a better opportunity for the top players but not EVERY top player is going to want to do it. I hope the Rush teams do good in the Elite 64 league. I'll have to look up how good some of those teams are, but I'll take the Frontier League teams all day long. It would be awesome if Rush Elite 64 and TDP could get together and play in the Fall! You sound a big supporter of this opportunity. Do you have more information you could share? Do you feel this program will be on the same level as MLS Next? I'm genuinely curious. I believe this could be a great opportunity for those top players that can't drive to BR or hub training or don't want to travel as much as MLS Next requires.

A number of the first team all state players were from 04 br black who because they were mostly seniors largely agreed to not do la TDP elite and stay together for club (with the exception of 1 who was part time I believe).
