Initial top 10 rankings and first thoughts as we head into the weekend following Thanksgiving break.
1-SJA (4-0)….as advertised. A lockdown D and assassins on offense.
2- STM (5-0)- watched them in person vs a short handed St Mikes. Not the Machine we are used to……but they look like they have the parts to build one. A couple more games together with this new group of starters and sky’s the limit
3-Parkview Baptist (3-0)- the D3 leader looks locked in and hitting on all cylinders early on this year. New shiny tools in the shed coming soon
4- Dominican (5-0)- a nice early victory vs Mandeville and it should be smooth sailing into Jan
5- Dutchtown (2-0) - with only two games played , the Griffins early schedule will have them battle tested. Will be interesting to see the upward or downward trend following.
6- Archbishop Hannan (2-1-1) the Hawks were tested early . They look to be rebuilding on another journey to Strawberry stadium
7- Episcopal (5-0) a favorable schedule to start with , outscoring opponents 20-0 has the Knights where they want to be heading into an Ed White div IV showdown in early December
8-St Michael’s (2-2-1) - a tough five games to start the season ….especially with a team getting healthy. Should move up as they get to full strength
9- SSA (2-1) - a tough first game loss to Dutchtown and the Doves have put two W’s on the board since . Offense seems to be struggling early on , but also could be props to St Amant and Vandy for keeping the score as low as it was
10-Newman (2-0) - two solid performances with with an upcoming test against Hannan next week.
Keeping an eye on - U- High, Ed White, Caddo, Mt Carmel , Fontainebleau, Mandeville
Any input is more than welcome , let’s wake this board up. Who did I miss ? who is ranked to high or low? Good luck to everyone as we march into week three. Fun times ahead

I'll take the bate but I've only seen a few of these teams play. SJA - overrated but in a weak D1, they're the odds on favorite. Defense is a bunch of new faces and their offense will disappear when it matters
STM - the machine will keep on chugging but it'll be slower this year. love to see them square off against SJA/Parkview/Newman
Parkview - may be the team to beat across all levels this year (even missing the best player in the state)
Dutchtown - scheduling keeps them in the top 4 this year in a down year for D1. I don't see a return the ship for them
Hannan - haven't seen in person but they're young and talented
Episcopal - juggernaut in D4
St Michaels - will underwhelm again. Talented individuals but lack the team chemistry
SSA - has some pieces but do they all fit together?
Newman - may be the most talented squad but will age hold them back
Did I miss anything??

Faith Johnston won the Gatorade Player of the Year for Louisiana as a sophomore at Parkview last year. Phenomenal player all around. She’s out this year after suffering an injury this summer.

There may be better players but without the ability to see everyone play, her winning POY qualifies her for the title. She one of the more dynamic players in the state for sure.

Faith was an absolute stud last year. She was a fun one to watch command the field. While she is getting back to full strength, it will be interesting to see her little sister try to step in a take over like her sister did. She 100% has the ability to.

Faith had over 50 goals and over 50 assists last season.. One of the most unselfish players I’ve ever watched. But she takes over when she needs to. Unique combination of power and speed along with being technically solid. And her younger sister was the MVP of the state championship game as an 8th grader.

Seeing all of these bouquets makes me feel really good knowing my lil daughter shut her down to 2 shots(misses) on goal last year at PV.

Sounds like she played a heckuva game.
