Shreve 3 Comeaux 1
Shreve scored 1 minute into the match when the ball was played out wide right and Matt Maberry got it and shot the ball a couple of yards inside the corner of the 18 and it went just inside the left post. Rest of the first half was controlled by Como. They dominated possession and got several shots off, Wimer however really didn't have to make any great saves the first half. 1-0 Shreve at half. Second half started out exactly the same with ball played out wide right, Maberry running on to it and shooting from right side 12-15 yards out and scoring. Comeaux could have packed it in but their kids stepped it up and put the pressure on. 6 minutes into the second half Como (Broussard ?) got a nice cross and put the ball in from around the 18. Next 20 minutes or so saw both teams get chances with Como getting a few more. Shreve scored again with 10 to go when Travis Wimer went thru a couple of defenders and got the ball past the keepers. Once again Como played hard to the end. Jeremy Wimer came up with several great saves in the second half. Shreve did not play very well this afternoon. They gave a lot of balls away with errant passes. But they did what they needed to do. Shreve's defense of Wimer, Beck, Rossett, and Norgard had their hands full with Como's great forwards and held them off this afternoon. Good job Shreve, good luck in the next round.

Thanks Shrevedad for the "spot on" assessment of the game. Unlike many posters on this board with all the trash talk, you gave a very classy and unbiased explanation. Comeaux did dominate much of the game but had problems finishing against Shreve's excellent defenders(especially#25) and awesome goalie. Unfortunately they got caught in the transisition game and allowed Shreve to capitalize on 2 well timed long balls and a bad Comeaux pass that resulted in a breakaway.
All in all it was a great game to watch. Good Luck to Captain Shreve team in the rest of the play-offs.

For Clarification, number 25 is Jason Beck, one heck of a player, and without a doubt the leader of Shreve's defense. The kid runs the defense and does a very good job of it, im my opinion having seem most of the top teams and top players, he is without a doubt one of the best defenders in the state. Its unfourtunate is does not get his due from sports writers, to his own coach for that matter. Sad to say but from what I understand its very true.

Very good game indeed. It shows that with effort and determination you can really put pressure on the big teams. Maberry was excellent i thought.

Watch the defense on those set pieces, Gators. Comeaux scored on one and caught you with pants down on a second one late in the game that they should have scored on.
Congrats to the Shreve coach for good scouting and a well executed game plan.
I too think it is time to give Beck his due. He has some technical shortcomings, but he brings an "attitude" that gives the best defense of any high school in this area it's personality. Hope him, Norgard and Rosset all get their recognition when individual awards are handed out.

Shreve's back line have more than held their own all year. They have played smart, hard-nosed defense all year. If you watch Shreve's substituions, the mid field and forwards get 1 or 2 breaks a game. The back 3 play every minute of every game. This says a lot for the desire and determination of this group, and when there is a slight breakdown Beck and Wimer are usually around to clean up. The back 3 and keeper have kept Shreve in a lot of games when the scoring touch was off. Now the scoring has returned along with the tight "D". Shreve wiil be a problem for any team they play.

Beck is a wonderful player. He is also really versatile in that he can move up in the attack. He is very strong on the ball.
