Here is the latest edition of the top 10 rankings among all classes. Posted 12/11
1- SJA (6-0-1) – The Redstickers battled back after being down 3-1 to the mighty Courgars of STM. Overcoming that big of a deficit, to a powerhouse, showed us something we weren’t sure if SJA could accomplish with all their new faces . We were wrong. SJA has become used to playing with a lead, one would think that type of game can only help in future contest going forward.
2- STM (7-0-1) – I had the Cougars at halftime moving up to the top spot, but decided to keep them where they were originally. STM did battle back and made Dutchtown look as if they were on skates the entire second half of their match. Ducthtown had no answer. While only 2-0 on paper, on the field its looked dominant. Kate Guillory with one of the best goals all year in that contest.
3- Parkview Baptist (8-0-1)- PBS is human as they get the draw after being up 2-0 over a well performing Thibodaux team . PBS is still a team loaded with weapons and should have a great match on the horizon vs Academy of Sacred Heart in early 2024
4- SSA (5-1) – Welcome to the top five Doves. An impressive shoutout victory vs St Mikes and an even more impressive 3-1 win over Hannan has moved the Doves up. Big games on the horizon with a top 10 matchup vs an undefeated Newman should be fun to see.
5- Dominican – (11-0-1) With a whopping 12 games already played, Dominican is getting their work in. Still not having that marquee victory on the board just yet, Dominican continues its steady play through the schedule so far.
6- Episcopal – (9-0) The so called big game between the Knights and Ed White was somewhat of a dud as Episcopal won 7-2. A fun match with Hannan in mid Jan looks to be the next big test for the Knights
7- Newman (6-0) – The greenies are rolling with some gigantic matches to prepare them for the run to the playoffs. Mt Carmel, SSA, Dominican, PBS, SJA and Dutchtown to name a few. One of the most impressive schedules I have seen.
8- Academy of Sacred Heart (8-1-1) – Solid performance on the year so far for Sacred Heart. Newman awaits
9- Dutchtown (4-1) – With only five games played so far, the Griffins should have fresh legs going into mid December. We will find out tonight if their opponent Southside is a contender or pretender very quick. I am also curious to see how Dutchtown rebounds after last weeks lost to STM.
10- Capt Shreve (8-0) – Welcome to the party Captain. Hard to keep a good team down. I see nothing highly impressive just yet, but if we know Captain…….wins will be plenty. First real test coming out of state in Jan.
Keeping an eye on – Hannan, Southside, S. Beauregard, Caddo, U High, St Mikes
Again, seeing if we can get any type of chatter on these boards. Who do yall have on your radar?
