As we head into Christmas break, I think all 10 of these teams have earned their way onto the nice list. All of them have asked Santa for a new shiny ring but we all know he can only give out four! Lots of soccer still to be played . Next weeks Lakeshore Classic is always a who’s who of top teams. We will know a little more about our top 10 teams after that is completed .
)STM (11-0-1) - it’s time. After 6 rings in a row and the unbeaten steak now over 50……STM is your new number 1 team. I personally wanted to see how Coach Underwood and the Cougars rebuilt after losing the amount of talented seniors last year. They have answered the call. For now….. they own the top spot.
)SJA (9-0-1) - This one was hard. How do u move a team down a spot who doesn’t have the word LOSING in their dictionary. SJA continues to impress ….most recently a dominant victory on an upcoming young Southside team.
)Parkview (11-0-1) - this team is on fire. They aren’t just winning games, they are dominating them. The offensive weapons for the Eagles are abundant! The Jan 5th and 8th games vs Sacred Heart and Newman should be the next big test after the Holiday Cup upcoming.
)Newman - (9-0-1) one word…Impressive. The gauntlet of the schedule started for this small Div IV team and they have answered the call. A win over Mt Carmel , draw vs SSA , and huge win vs Dominican last night 2-1. The Greenies are for real!
)Episcopal (10-0) - while not as daunting as a schedule as their Div 4 counterpart Newman, the Knights are handling their business. An impressive 8 shutouts already on the board, Episcopal also brings the fire power on offense average over 5 goals a game.
)Dominican (14-1-1)- Dominican would take their first L from the Greenies but has still racked up and impressive 14 wins so far. The most impressive coming early in the season vs Mandeville. Two big games await vs SJA and SSA in the Lakeshore classic.
)SSA (6-1-1) - SSA is building up steam as they head into the Lakeshore classic and new year. I’m still not sure how to rate this team just yet. I know they are top ten, but can this be top 5 or even top 3. Lots of huge matchups upcoming for the Doves
)Loyola Prep (8-1-2) - Loyola is back into the top 10 with only one blemish on the books coming from the hands of STM. Loyola never scared to play the best, walks into the Lakeshore Classic ready to take on THREE Div I foes.
)Captain Shreve (11-1) - the number 1 power ranked team in Louisiana moves up one spot to number 9. Their undefeated record would finally end at the hands of an impressive Mandeville team . Four out of state games await the "kings of the north".
)Sacred heart (9-1-1) - Sacred Heart is getting the job done. Newman and Parkview await as they move into 2024. This 10 spot had teams clawing to get in. Some are one big victory away while others keep winning but dont' have a marquee game on their schedule to propel them up. Regardless, winning cures all. Should be fun to watch these below move their way up.
Keep an eye on - U-High , Mandeville , Caddo , St Charles , Hannan, Thibodaux, St Mikes, Southside
