While pondering through the number of games with a P next to them đ¤ over the last 2 weeks,oh and itâs sunny and 65 now in NWLA đ I started wondering about all these district games. I know when I handled the schedule for Parkway 7-8 years ago, district games had to be played no matter what. That non district games were to be bumped to open up room for postponed district games. And if a team played on grass and the field was unplayable they had to find a playable field to play the game. I wondered how many district games against the winless or very low wins teams, that coaches will try not to play for field conditions etc. or if a team is happy with their PR spot maybe not playing a team way above them to get pushed out if that spot.
What are the rules, and consequences of doing one of the above?? Forfeit, games goes as a tie, nothing.
Any thoughts from the power brokers down south? Anyone feel this is about to happen??

No district games should be scheduled on last 2 game days and if district games canceled, they get moved to those 2 days and played. Find turf if needed.

Years ago, we operated as if they had to be played. But then there came a time for LHSAA to enforce the ârule.â LHSAA pulled a Supreme Court deferral and said itâs up to each districtâs bylaws whether or not district games had to be played - if bylaws donât address LHSAA isnât stepping in to force games. So games that canât be played are just canceled.

Where all the other teams in the district are stuck with that 5ish point win. Seems pretty unfair. And downright going against the integrity of the game of soccer. Not even to mention when a team in a favorable PR spot, say like 6 or 7 pr, a loss to the top district opponent and drop to the 8/9 and be in the top seeds side of the bracket. So using this loop hole to cancel the district game. Seems very wrong.

DME - I think you make a great point and this seems like something that should be addressed.

So using this loop hole to cancel the district game. Seems very wrong. That was exactly the scenario that LHSAA chose not to step in and force a game - a team got to avoid playing the winless team (I believe they werenât forced to cancel another game to be able to reschedule the nonplayed district game). This gave rise to current requirement of mutual agreement to cancel - wasnât really a thing until PR and new interpretation on district game requirements. So hopefully it doesnât happen as much as we feel like it might. Of course I agree with the idea of playing your schedule. But was probably ârightâ decision by LHSAA to let districts decide. Arbitrariness of weather and end dates of season mean that some game at some point wouldnât be able to be played (eg, rainout on last day). And then what? If districts are concerned, theyâll start district play earlier (like many now do).
