Predictions? I have no clue about Warren Easton, so any scouting report or whatever will help... Playing on Monday @ 3:30 @ Tad Gormley...

My prediction is Caddo Magnet vs Brother Martin or Rummel in 1 week up here at Indy. What a doubleheader it would be up here with that match and Shreve-St. Pauls (If they get by CL and we get by WM). Good Luck to Caddo Magnet! We have a great chance to get 2 teams in the quarters this year. Doubt if it has ever happened before.

My understanding is if Magnet won they would have to travel back down to play the winner of BM and Rummel. Correct me if Im wrong

Pretty sure it would be up here. All 3 teams would have traveled once. Top team gets the home match in that case. Rummel is out since they had the last home match and BM loses out due to Odd-Even-Top-Bottom rule

That will be a great evening.
BM should slip past Rummel, and St.Pauls will easily beat CL by 3 or 4 goals. Shreve and Caddo are playing the 2 weakest teams remaining, unless they really overlook them they will advance. Next week will be great day for Shreveport soccer.

Just for Clarification, ShreveDad, there has been on more than one occassion two D1 shreveport schools in the Quaters. If you go back to early 90's Byrd and Airline teams consistently did well, I should know I played against them and on one of the teams. anyway, this would be the first in along time that two shreveport teams have or could make it to the Quaters.

Caddo Magnet beat Warren Easton 8-0.
3-0 at the half. According to LAsoccer1317, Tad Gormley not in great shape, not worthy of state finals. He said however, that you can get some good sand wedge practice in with all the sand out there.

Shrevedad, if both shreve and st. paul's advance, why would the game be up in shreveport. Both teams would have played two home games.

Shreve is on top of the bracket therefore they get home game since both teams have been identical in where they play their games.

That field was bad. I don't understand how that is the state championship field. I mean, the best field I've seen so far is Independance, but I can understand that's wayyyy to far north for most teams (or fans for that matter) to want to travel. But I mean, that field is ridiculous, there's sand everywhere and the grass grows in patches. There has to be a better location for a state final game.

I realize that the better teams are down south and don't want to travel, but if the field truly is that bad, shouldn't those teams want to play on a better field, the best for that matter, even if it does mean a little travel

Tad Gormley's surface is usually in good shape. I don't know what exactly happened to it this year, but I read a report in the Times Pic that they had actually stopped playing on it for some time this season. Maybe they started playing on it again too soon. I wonder if the NO teams will consider not playing on it until the finals?
They won't be moved, however, due to the Nokia Sugar Bowl sponsorship of the event.

More on the condition of Tad Gormley, the newspaper article stated that the few unusual cold snaps retarded the growth of the overseed. They tried again, and cancelled some games, but apparently without a lot of success. They have picked Tad Gormley because it usually drains well. It is unlikely the game will be moved out of New Orleans due to sponsorship as someone mentioned. However, there is a good alternative in New Orleans. That is the Tulane Soccer Field, otherwise know as Westfeldt Stadium (I think). It has been the home of the Shellshockers and was the sight of a game with the Dallas Burn. The field appears to have wonderful dimensions ... I think 70 yards wide. There are lights and stands. The only potential drawback is that it has artificial turf ... but I think it is the newer kind. A referee commented to me that the field drains very well. This would provide a great alternative if this could be worked out with Tulane.

Tad Gormley's Field is not in great shape. The midfield area is bald and covered with sand. They have planted some seed in hopes to fill in t but it has been a bad year. A combination of weather, Tulane playing on the field a couple of times and a very late college game which was played with the field wet has taken its toll. Jesuit and Mount Carmel soccer teams moved their home games from Tad Gormley earlier in the year and only the last week of the season against Brother Martin did Jesuit use it as their home field. I am afraid it will be fair at best. St Augustine, which fielded a team for the first time, used it for its 5 home district games, all this in addition to previous year's use. The use and abuse this field has taken I am afraid is overwhelming. The chances of moving the championship game I believe are slim. Just as Lafayette has hosted the basketball championship and for years Denham Springs had baseball, the Superdome has football. Tad Gormleyu and the Nokia Sugar bowl have the soccer finals. Let's be thankful a major sponsor stepped up for soccer.

I agree bluejay...and let's face it, New Orleans is the only destination in the state. Going down there for the finals makes for a nice weekend. The last two years playing down there have been a lot of fun. Of course, last year was A LOT more fun than 2003!

the Tulane field is very nice but the only thing i dont like about it when we played on it for a scrimmage was it was very hot and the rubber on the field made ever1 shoes really hot and uncomfortable

I doubt at this time of year you will have to worry much about it being that hot. Tulane seems like a good place to have it but sponsorship issues do play a large part. Is there anyway it could change location but still hold the same name and everything it has now, just on a better field?
