Some districts take a long time to release. Ours in District III took a long time last year. Makes no sense considering they voted before playoffs.

Acadiana won district quite easily and only gets 2 players in the first team? While the coach of the year also only gets 1 win in district? Not saying players and coaches aren’t deserving of the honors given, but this is a disitrict honor. Everything done outside of it ie non district games and playoff results shouldn’t factor in. Sulphur also is more deserving it seems. Just an opinion.

All- District represents the play in district. AHS dominated district play. It wasn’t close. Coach with 1 win and a red card in that win gets coach of the year? And the best defense in the district gets 2nd teams and honorable mention? Grow up and vote like adults. This is ridiculous.

Isn’t it for each district to determine what their own All-District looks like? Some may consider only the district games (think how that looks in the 2-3 team districts) but others may consider body of work…which includes regular season and playoffs. That may be why they don’t vote/release results until after all teams from the district are eliminated.

Here is something else to contemplate. this is in no way to diminish any honor that was earned by a player, but what about all stats honors? Should the voting come from only playoffs or only from teams that make it into the later rounds? There was a district MVP last year...one of only 8 players in the division to receive the honor, that didn't even make honorable mention all-state. Do you mean to tell me that there were 30+ kids across the division all-state teams that were better than he was after dominating the district? Horse hockey as Col. Potter used to say.

That's how the coaches voted. Nothing was directed at you, I apologize if it came across that way. I just don’t understand that a team wins district and loses its only game that was called after 1 half of play (both coaches agreed because of the timing of the and the number of regular season days left), and only gets 2 players in the 1st team. Coach of the year should go to the district champion as most coaches agree on that for the most part. There may be some odd ball years for that but it’s hard to argue that a coach with 1 win gets coach of the year over a district champion coach with 1 loss. Again..just an opinion.

I don't think that you can base Coach of the Year off the win/loss status in district games. In High School, coaches don't get to cherry pick their players. They have to work with what they are given, and wins/losses doesn't tell a whole story on what the coach has done with that particular program. My guess is that other coaches recognize the "big picture" when making these votes.

Northshore district always released after last team either wins state or is finished for season. It’s been done like this for years. All-District honors is based off of district play.

I feel like every year we hear a lot of the same complaints on people being left out of All-District. I’ll never forget when I was a senior in 2008 (Slidell High GK) and got voted 1st Team over another GK in the district on a top team and there was a huge uproar on here. Like legit tons of people complaining. I averaged 15 saves a game on the worst team in the district, and he only averaged 2 saves a game because his defense was legit. He was no doubt a top goalie, but they gave me 6 out of 8 votes because of what they saw during district play.
I guess what I’m trying to say is before people start complaining, don’t forget that it is up to the coaches to vote, and hopefully it’s all based on what was played during district games. There is a reason why it’s called the All-District team.
Also now that I help coach (on the girls side) we try to save our stats during the district games, so we can present that at the All-District meetings so we can show the other coaches what our players did during those games.

My issue with District, is it can kind of be a participation Trophy. We have teams in our district that couldn't beat a legit 9th grade team, but they have 5-8 players listed on 1st and 2nd teams in district. I've heard that if they don't get spots they wont vote...whatever that means, im not a coach. Not to mention, those teams don't even see our best players, because we bench them after 5 minutes against them. So How can you base it off of district games only.... we are a larger district.

So some of the lesser schools refuse to vote if they don’t get spots on the All-District team? I know we have had team’s coaches in the past refuse to show up to the meetings, so none of their kids made the All-District team at all. We’ve also had coaches who throw out their whole starting 11, making it harder for some of the better players on lesser teams to get recognized.

My guess is that other coaches recognize the "big picture" when making these votes. Big picture right? So Lafayette High had arguably the most skilled team going into the season. And they won 1 game. Who’s that on? You telling me they over achieved? The coach for the team that won district and lost 1 game with a team that wasn’t supposed to compete didn’t get it. A first year coach at that. Big picture is right. But winning 1 game with that squad is a failure on his part. I heard this year voting was just done with Google docs. No meetings like in the past. Need to bring the meetings back first of all. Also, let’s make the voting public so people can be held accountable. It’s painfully obvious people were voting for their “friends”.
