After being gone for almost 10 years I am surprised about the little activity on this board.
Anyone at the Parkview vs Hannan or St Michael vs St Louis games?

Parkview 0-0 Hannan Parkview Baptist wins 4-2 (KFTM) Any insight on this game? I've seem some chatter about there being a goal that was not called a goal. In my opinion, and after watching the videos/clips shown, I think it could have gone either way and not something that was an easy yes or no. The Hannan fans seem to think it was obvious, and it definitely didn't seem "obvious" with what I saw, but I was not there.

But sitting in the stands, no fan can make that claim. The AR was standing right at the flag on the end line and they had a perfect view. And they clearly made the call without hesitation. Despite the Hannan fans blowing airhorns and ringing cowbells like it was a goal. It was close to going in, but the Parkview keeper secured it before it crossed the line according to the AR. And it was a well-played game by both teams. A lot of speed on both sides. #27 for Hannan is one heckuva player but there was plenty of talent around her. This game could have gone either way as both teams had opportunities to score. Whoever had the wind, controlled possession. That's the way it was all night. Very entertaining game that was for sure.

I wouldn’t say it was “obviously” not a goal. I don’t have a horse in this race so I couldn’t care less who won the game, but it look like it crossed the line to me. PictureVideoYou guys can determine for yourselves.

Thanks. That's what I figured. I saw a stillshot with an edited yellow line added in, but the line was in front of the goal, and not aligned with the posts, so it wasn't even accurate in that manner. Regardless, it was close enough that I could see how it could be called either way. Many don't understand the actual ball over the line rules, so it's too hard to state that it was obvious either way.

I wouldn’t say it was “obviously” not a goal. I don’t have a horse in this race so I couldn’t care less who won the game, but it look like it crossed the line to me. PictureVideoYou guys can determine for yourselves. Is that an edited yellow line, or was it already there? Regardless, in all soccer I've seen, the line doesn't run in front of the goal, it runs with the posts. In that particular picture, the angle and placement of the line don't give away anything. Personally, if I'm looking at that picture, the line is in the wrong place, and the ball is still over the plane of the line, from that angle, therefore no goal. The clip shows it a little better, but I can honestly see how a ref may have missed it IF it did go in. I've seen some comments to the effect that the refs made a bad call and they should be "ashamed" - I wouldn't say it was a bad call, just unlucky for one team. I watched the video numerous times, and it's so hard to tell - the ball MAY have rolled back but with the white field, it's really not easy to see what happened. Even zoomed in clips don't show anything definitively. I wouldn't say it was obvious either way, and unfortunately, that's how soccer goes oftentimes. I don't have any affiliation with either team, so it doesn't matter to me either. I'm just telling it how I see it from the pictures and clips. Edited to add: I'm sure if I was a Hannan parent, I would be upset about it also.

It’s like a boxing match…you should never leave it up to the refs. I was leaning towards the ball crossing the line. You ask 10 people and you’ll get 10 different opinions. It was definitely not clear cut. If I were a Hannan parent, I would not be happy either. Peace!
