I was informed of this this morning, and I have no idea if it's correct or not, but just passing it along. Someone who knows, please confirm.
We'll have about 11 weeks instead of the 12 we had this year. The LHSAA insists our season has to start one week before Thanksgiving no matter when Thanksgiving is instead of just the second Monday in November (or whenever) because reasons, and Thanksgiving is late this year, so we'll begin on November 18th as opposed to the 11th and we'll finish on January 27th (as opposed to the 29th when we finished this year). So we're gettin it from both ends.
So schedule accordingly.
I was also informed that Baseball next year will begin after Mardi Gras, Softball will start after passover, Football won't play until the third full moon after Juneteenth and Basketball won't start until the Groundhog sees his shadow. Because every bit of that makes as much sense as your season starting the week before Thanksgiving.

cap bc i need it to start earlier No cap, from what I can gather. Just a very, very stupid system. Imagine if you will them announcing that they were shorting football season by one week because Columbus day was a week later than usual. Now imagine the foot-stomping breath-holding fit that the entire state would throw. Now remember that the LHSAA 100% absolutely does not care about soccer one bit because they're doing that to us but would never *ever* consider doing that to any other sport.

From what I can tell it may be two weeks shorter. First game is November 18 and final regular season day is January 27. I think the leap year and Mardi Gras conflicts are to blame. The dates are on the LHSAA under the admin tab. They are subject to change but it has dates for 2024-2027. www.lhsaa.org/administration

But I could be mistaken, as I said, didn't put a lot of thought into it, just counted. But yea, either way, it's completely irresponsible and stupid of the LHSAA to just shrug and say "Oh well, thanksgiving, LOL". There's literally no reason for it. Good luck to everyone scheduling tournaments and such. "I guess figure it out lol @ futbol" --- Eddie Bonine

Are the basketball seasons being shorten as well since they basically occur close to the same time. If not, then yes, there is a problem as soccer teams will then play that "extra" game in week and that is when injuries are more likely to happen.

I came to that conclusion after realizing some tournaments we will be playing are in back to back weekends this season instead of having a week break. The ending the regular season in January also is a real disappointment. Going to be like a puzzle trying to organize the schedule for next year. Very little wiggle room.
