I would be very interested to see listings of players from each school that would be considered some of the best that have come out of that particular school's Soccer Program...

Ever heard of a guy named "Frosty?" He might not have been the best, but he certainly was one of the most aggressive, passionate, and feared stoppers como ever had...

Players I remember being stand-outs:
Lafayette: Strikers: Stephen Duhon, Doug Fritts(RIP), Ben Roth
Mids: David Wenger, Chris Fung, Stuart LeBlanc, Dusty Ballay, Matt DeClouet, Brian McNamara
Defense: Peter Guarisco, Tommy Robinson, Charles Luis, Mark DeClouet, Chris Hoffpauir, Dustin Menard
Keepers: Scotty Fitzgerald, Ryan Gummer, Bryan Atchetee, Ben Roberts
These are the players dating back from 95-96 until 03-04 who stood out from the rest in my mind for their respective time at Lafayette. I was 15 when I saw some and I was 23 when I saw some, so needless to say my perception of how good a player was, was magnified when I was younger. However, every one of these players made a huge impact and Lafayette was a much better team with these players.
Acadiana: Ryan McLeary, Lane Lombas, Josh Vidrine, PJ LeBlanc, Josh Yamrino, Justin Angelle, Justin Richard
Carencro: Josh Mamer, Lucas Bernard, Steven Mamer, Denny Guilbeau, Billy Guilbeau, John Malveaux, Blane Cottam
Comeaux: Brian Louviere, Jason Dyott
These are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head that really stood out from the rest. There are alot of good players that I remember, but have not mentioned. This is becasue I do not feel that these set themselves apart from the rest of the players during their time.

Ben is coming to play in the Alumni game. He was pretty much unstoppable when he played for LHS until he broke his leg.
What year did McNamara graduate? We had a McNamara, tall blonde kid, who was one of the nicest kids I ever knew and a great player. I tried to find him but could not. He was a Freshman in 1992 when Shammi Gupta, Wayne Shullaw, Ricky Morris, Barret Buxton, Johnny Cox, Craig Campbell, Patrick Turner, and Craig Duncan were seniors, all of whom are coming...That was the year that we lost to De La Salle in the quarterfinals. Sham played the entire game with a fractured ankle. The most valiant display of leadership I have ever seen. They had three Jeanfreau brothers who started, one of whom, the lefty striker, played 4 years of Division I.
Comeaux had a very good midfielder back then named Malegari, not sure about the spelling, who was fun to watch.
I've said this before, but Jason Crouch was one of the best strikers Acadiana ever had back then. They also had a pretty good GK, Lafleur, who ended up as a placekicker for LSU.
Can't find Wenger, but I'm still trying, or Gummer either. They had different styles, but Gummer was probably as good a GK if not better than Stephen Jones. Gummer was in the goal the nite we lost to Jesuit in the finals. Stephen will probably start out in the goal for the Alumni game and be backed up by Scotty Fitzgerald.

Being that i am from the LHS past I could go on forever about the past greats out of that school but the ones that stand out in my mind from back in the day from other schools are:
Comeaux- Ryan Maligary, Jay Forea, Dwayne Bergeron, Frosty was ok.
Acadiana - Jan Richard, Brandon Duvio, Ross Comeaux, Cory Babineaux

McNamara graduated in '04.
Goalie, there are two on h's list who won a championship. D. Menard and McNamara. Also both were first team all-state.
As for which players Lafayette couldn't do without from last year...I think all played huge roles in the success of the team and would have been sorely missed. Also, since Jordan Judice didn't play this year due to a knee injury, I'll put him in there as well. I think without any one of those players Lafayette's chances to win drop. D. Menard shut down the left side of the field all year...probably the most consistent of the five. I can't remember him having one off game. You just knew that his side of the field was taken care of. Pierce and Judice played huge in some of the biggest games. There is no doubt in my mind that LHS would have lost to Jesuit without the game that Jordan Judice played in the finals. And Pierce brought a tremendous physical presence to the stopper position. He could really bully teams out of their game. McNamara did a great job controlling the middle of the field and setting up the attack. He was also a good goal scorer, but got overshadowed by Belfour's great season. He along with Todd pretty much shut down the midfield in the semis and finals. Rummel couldn't get much going and Jesuit's best attacks came when they bypassed the midfield and played longballs up to their attackers. And then there's los. Huge, huge finals. To this day, I still don't know how Jesuit didn't score on some of their chances.
Wow, am I rambling/babbling....just love that team, though.
(Hey, btw, there's a new Jordan Judice now! I was leaving the Westgate game the other night and I heard the announcer introduce Jordan Judice into the game. I ran around to the fence to see if Jordan had really made a triumphant comeback for the playoffs...naw, just some soph who has some pretty big(figuratively and literally) shoes to fill)

I smiled when I saw Frosty get mentioned. What was his real name anyway? And you are correct, he was OK, but you have to give him one thing, he played from touch line to touch line and he chased all nite. You always had to look over your shoulder when Frosty was around. He was a hell of a tackler... . I'm glad I spelled Ryan's name correctly. He was a great kid as well as a good player. As for Jordan Judice, you're right. He was 6'4"and almost impossible to beat. The Jordan Judice this year is a junior, I'm almost sure. He is one of 8(?) siblings and the son of "Rock" Judice who goes back to the Northside days of Remi Judice and that bunch of outlaws. The games back then between LHS and Northside were extremely physical. That was the Deanna Bostick Days...Those Northside boys were tough as nails and played for keeps. We don't see the level of physical play today that went on back then. Those games were downright rough... I don't remember which one he was, but Acadiana had a player in 1990 that had a very heavy foot. He was a kicker for the football team also and could literally send a ball almost the entire length of the field, and that was corner to corner! Unbelievable velocity! Brandon Duvio and Jan definitely get my vote. Is there anyone who remember's Crouch? I feel old...

Being one of the aforementioned names, I consider myself honored to be in the category of some of those players. Players that I consider some of the better players of the area:
ESA--Robby Leger, Pulin Shah, Andon Briggs AHS--Definitely Ross Comeaux, Jan Richard, Jason Crouch, Brad Thibodeaux, Douvio, Lenus Ledet, Chris McCready, Yammarino, Vidrine, Overfelt, PJ Leblanc LHS--Shammi, David Thevenote, Craig Duncan, Tommy Robinson, Fung... I try not to remember all the good players..those are a few..
would be great to have a mixed alumni match....

Thanx HalloFAME...Andon Briggs was an animal that was a great GK from ESA and who played with Robby, another animal. Briggs could play anywhere on the field and ESA used to give LHS a run for their money back in those day...Great times...
I'd almost bet I know who you are because I heard that you were back in town...You need to come see your friend Wayne...;D
And I agree, as a matter of fact, I am hoping that Acadiana gets into the swing and puts a team together, although we'd probably need a SWAT Team for security....Lot of tradition there buddy...
If you are who I think you are, you "were" really smooth...
