vandy won 3-0 and completly dominated maybe like 40 shots to st.michaels 1 or 2. it was 0-0 at half but vandy broke through with a free kick from elliot lewis and followed up with twomore goals. vady looks to be stepping up when they need to

the ASH and Vandy game will not be a blowout like everyone thinks it will be. If you look at St. Michaels schedule, you would be in shock that they got this far in the playoffs. They are 0-2 vs Zachary, which ASH pretty much manhandled but let the game be close. St. Michael gave Vandy a very tough time through the first half, second half they broke it open but still. ASH is riding high right now with a lot of confidence after beating a team like STM. If ASH plays smart and hard like theyve been doing, they might win. This could be a season for the ages for ASH, Saturday is gunna be a beast.
Im going with the upset special ASH 3 Vandebilt Catholic 2 in OT

Well, I haven't seen Alexandria play, but one thing you cannot count out. Vandy knows what to do and what it takes to get to the next round. When a team makes 4 straight championship game appearances and takes 3 of those matches, it is no fluke. We all know by now that Jesuit lost, but Vandy is up there in the same stratus as Jesuit. It is no fluke that they are where they are. In sports, anything is possible, but you probably want to be there to see what happens next. I am going to say it will be Vandy 4-2. Coach Hamilton and his boys are in the driver seat.

Vandy has a brilliant team. Well coached, disciplined, very quick, etc. Absolutely a superior team to St. Michael's. However, St. Michael's kept this game 0-0 for 65 minutes, until a direct kick deflected off a defender as the referee moved the wall back. 2 seniors and the rest of the St. Michael's team put forth their best effort of the season in this game. St. Michael's leading scorer sustained a serious blow to his eye 3 minutes into the game and never returned. A 9th grader replaced him and gave a valiant effort. Hats off to St. Michael's for a truly valiant effort against the number one team in the state. This game was NOT over at half time. In fact, Vandebilt may have played their toughest game of the 2006 State Play-offs. The Warriors will return 9 players next year! Best of luck to all who are still playing. And keep your comments positive...........players and coaches work hard to build programs. No need to slander or bash them on the forums.

herd it was not as close as the score indicated, vch could take it all if the players control their actions and play as a team. when they do that its hard to beat them, i watched them twice, when theyed jesuit great talent up front , mid , def, and gk .

I agree that they played well against STM, i didnt see the game but they had to have played good in order to beat a team like STM. But i think its getting too much hype and they may let it get to their heads. Vandy doesnt mess around and is always a top team. You will need more than heart and wanting to win to get this game.

St. Michaels played 10 men behind the ball for most of the game. When they did get the ball they just humped it back up the field, so Vandy could come back at them. St. Michaels didn't come to win the game. They came to keep the score down.

i dont think a 3-0 win is gonna be vandys hardest game of the playoffs. Hats off to st michaels bc i know they had a solid team this year but i think alexandria or if they make it to state will be tougher games.

St Micheals did what they needed to do to stay in the game.Once our forward, adrain received his injury it changed the dynamics of the game .St Micheals didnot have a deep bench . Adrain apparently suffered a potentially disabilitating injury. It may take a few weeks to find out if his eyesight will be permantly damaged. Our thoughts and prayers are with Adrain and his family

St. Michaels didn't come to win the game. They came to keep the score down. How can you say that someone does not come to win the game. Do you think St. Michaels sat before the game and said, "well we are not going to win today, so why did coach bring us here." The coach felt that he didn't have the talent to play high pressure, so he sat back and defended. Did you see the Arsenal game yesterday, all 11 players dropped in and defended. Watch the Chelsea game today and they do the same and counter. Do these teams not come to win the game because they defend? St. Michaels might not have the talent to counter, but the longer the score is nil, the more confident the players are and the better the chance to steal the game. It takes one free kick or counter to win the game 1-0.

the Vandy players were frustrated by the tactics of St Micheal and it was showing right before the half ended.Once again,a team has to use its strength and brains to play a more skilled team. I give St Micheals coaches credit for devising the only plan that they would have a chance of staying with and possibly surprising the opposing team . After all , the better team does not always win . St Micheals did not go into the game with the attitude it was over before it started .They wanted to win as much as Vandy wanted to win.

Congrats to Vandy for the win but i personally hope ASH pulls off the upset and I am sick of hearing all of the vandy talk and i wish STM could have pulled off the win cause I would have loved to see that game, but congrats to Vandy and goodluck to them and ASH in the semis

HOUMA -- At Vandebilt Catholic, the winning tradition that goes along with the boys soccer program has gotten to a point where state championships are almost expected.
On Tuesday night at Buddy Marcello Stadium, the Terriers took the next step toward making their fifth-straight championship match appearance.
Vandebilt beat St. Michael 3-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Division II state playoffs.
The Terriers (20-3-3) will host Alexandria in the semifinal round, and a victory in that match would put the Terriers in position to win their fourth state title in five years.
Alexandria defeated St. Thomas More 4-3 Monday in a match that was decided by penalty kicks.
St. Michael ended its season at 11-13-1.
The Warriors lost a man early in the match.
Adrian Silva attempted to take the ball in the fifth minute when it hit him in the face, injuring his eye.
The injury was so severe that Silva, St. Michael’s top scoring threat, had to leave the field to receive further medical evaluation.
The first half ended at 0-0.
In fact, the Terriers were held without a goal for the first 56 minutes.
But that’s when Elliott Lewis took advantage of a direct free kick and sent it over the Warriors wall and past goalkeeper Colton McIlhenney (13 saves) to give Vandebilt a 1-0 lead.
Alex LeJeune scored the second goal for the Terriers with an 18-yard crosskick in that 70th minute making the score to 2-0.
In the 75th minute, Jeff Debileux came with a crosskick of his own from the other side of the net from 20 yards away to cap the scoring for Vandebilt at 3-0.
"For the first 70 minutes we played low pressure and made them work for it," St. Michael coach P.J. Bray said. "But in the final 10 minutes we tried to equalize things and they put two more on us. Vandy has proven how great of a program they really are."
Vandebilt coach Doug Hamilton praised the St. Michael strategy.
"They had a great game plan against us. A tale of a couple of halves, they held us off good and defended us well." Hamilton said. "At the end of the first half, we gained confidence. In the second half, I was telling Elliott to get a set play and he did. Beautiful goal by sophomore Jeff Debileux, and I have to say great intensity from Jean Lapeyre. (Goalkeeper Ryan) Porche had a great save when we were up 1-0. Credit St. Michael for their play."
Porche finished with three saves, and the Terriers took 20 shots on goal.
