Is there such a title? If so who awards it and when? And more importantly for arguments sake........who gets it? (if this is already posted my search didn't turn it up)

There IS an MVP awarded, Coaches nominate a player to be voted on and coaches recieve back ballods to vote on the top candidates..... and its usually the stand out player (captain) for the state champs.... which this year the D-1 Finalls didnt seem to have one. That is going to split the MVP votes up from all over the state. Their will be complaints along with the MVP no matter who gets it, unless the MVP comes from the state champions.

That makes two of us. I saw a couple of people mention it that's why I asked. Are you sure you're not assuming that the D1 MVP is the all-state all-division MVP?

The all-division MVP is called the gatorade player of the year.

And it was awarded before the Finals to Ross Thevenot, Forward, St. Louis.
The 50 state Gatorade Players of the Year are eligible for the National Player of the Year award. I'm pretty sure that will go to someone in another state, not just because of the 1 in 50 odds but because several other states have better HS soccer across the board & get more attention. Also higher population states probably have more voters on the panel & the voters, like the rest of us, will be more impressed with the guy they saw than the guy they heard about (because we're all human).
