I think I counted 16 different teams represented on this list.
On the plus side, I'm glad to see the Carencro keeper, Steven, being recognized. He helped keep Carencro in a lot of games.
On the minus side, Prejean and Foreman for Laffy both deserved first team.

i think that Hovis, the goalie from Fontainebleau, should have got 1st team, he kept them in alot of games against the best teams in the state.

I hope this is a mistake. Brian Prejean and Foreman not making the first team is an absolute travesty. Prejean is the best defender in this state, period. And Foreman will compete with anybody. Wrong, wrong , wrong.

I thought Seb Torrado had some room to talk for a spot on the list, suprised he isnt there. I was also suprised with Peyton Eustis being first team. I watched a few sps games this year and he was good, but not first team. Prejean/Foreman should have been there in his spot. Anyways congrats everyone who made the list, you all deserve it!

Is this a popularity contest or what! What are the objective standards for these selections? Are there any? Is there a vote? If so, who votes? How do you get noticed if not from a "big" D1 school?

The players are voted on by member coaches from the LHSSCA. This year 26 coaches voted in D1--the most ever. Its not a popularity contest, the coaches choose. Nomination ballots are circulated throughout the state to all of the coaches, who nomimnate their choices for the all state team. The list is then compiled and sent out to all the member coaches to vote for 11 players and return. The votes are tabulated, and then the teams are chosen based on the # of votes received per player, with a cutoff vote amount being established. Its a good, fair process, and I agree with just about all of the choices. I am disappointed about Sebastian Torrado not making it, but the other forwards chosen were certainly quality players. I think Prejean ended up where he belonged, only because many folks on the Northshore didnt see him, and District 5's coaches voted the most. Foreman was a first teamer in my book, but he didnt get there. I think the Lafayette players were hurt by the controversy, and Carencro really garnered the most recognition at the end. I was surprised the Ellender didt get much recognition either.
Best thing I see is that coaches voted for the best players they saw, and didnt use that stupid premise that the captain from the state Championship team was the states best player. Jarrett Gautreaux is the best player in the state in D1, and was recognized accordingly. Kurt Talley was a good pick for coach of the year, with Budd Ditchendorf being a great second candidate, and the votes between them were close.
As with any awards team, there is always some controversy, and some conjecture about who made it that shouldnt have, and who didnt make it that should have. In the end, this is a pretty accurate list, and its chosen by the coaches, who know the best.

I don't think that Carencro's goalie should have 1st team, i've seen him play about 6 times, and wasn't really impressed at all, for all 6 games, Hovis should have got it.

What about Ponchy's second teamer? Personally, I didn't think he was all that great, but he did lead his team to a much better season than usual. I don't know I just think he is overrated due to the lack of talent around him.
