sadly i must say this will be my last post on LA PREP being that i am a senior and couldnt have asked for more this year out of my team, fans, and especially the coaches.... the 05/06 season im sure as you all know was full of suprises, upsets, and even an unlucky tragedy for a certain team.... but i have to say that this season by far was the most exciting... and for my team the most productive and fun of my highschool career.... i want to thank everyone... refs, coaches, other teams, fans and my entire E.A coaching staff and team.... we could never have asked for more.... (of course one more victory wouldnt have been that horrible ) but i hope everyone has a safe and fun season next year as i will be looking in on time to time just because im simply addicted to this amazing sport of soccer..... everyone stay healthy, train hard, and most importantly have the time of your life playing the sport you love... whether you're all state or 2nd string.... its doesnt matter, everyone that loves this sport has a place in its greatness... if you leave it all on the field and give it all you've got every chance u get to play, then you're a champion in your own heart...... and nobody can take that away... sincerely #23 Matt Jarman, Sr. Defender at East Ascension High School Class of 06 Goodbye High School Soccer

yea,,,, i am also saying farewell to my playing days as high school soccer. There are many who knew i played, and many who didnt.
I must say that starting out playing as a 9th grader and not knowing what the sport was even about. Through my journey through learning the game. I still have the memories of my freshman year of playing sweeper for the freshman team. Coach yelled at me to set up an offsides trap... n i just stopped n yelled back as the guy would dribble right past me for a one on one with the goalie.
I must say, i really sucked that year. The next year wasnt any better when i barely made the junior varsity squad, and was told by many that i didnt really deserve to be on the team. That is when i set up a goal in my yard n would shoot from my neighbors across the street at the goal.. lol.. It eventually payed off as I became a starter and all district defensive mvp....
I will miss my days of playing soccer, it has taught me so much of what a person can do if they put their mind to it. To be able to compete with kids that played the sport all their life was an honor. And i look forward to the years where i can sit back and relax and enjoy a good ole game of soccer. Not to mention get to sit there n critize my friends that will continue to play without me......
Farwell soccer career
