Division II is too small and the level is the poorest of the three divisions.
I think Vandy will slow down in the coming years. Yet the division is so weak that they still may win championships.
It was better when St. Paul's was in the division, but then again, all they did was win it year after year.
I think they need to rerge divisions 2 and 3 into the same division.

Back in the early 90s, there were only 2 divisions in LHSAA. The lower division was very competitive. Division II has very few good caliber teams compared to Divsions 1 and 3. I think there are Division III teams as good as the best of Division II teams.

I'm saying Vandy or STM to win, because Vandy is always good, but STM also has a very skilled team with many players with experience. Other teams that could challenge would be EA, ASH, Pineville, Parkway, Neville.

STM is still a huge question mark this year. They are loaded with talent but what will the coaching change do to the team?

Many were wondering the same with Laffayette to last year, loaded with talent but new coaching staf... I think STM will put it together this year and will compete, especially towards the end of the year. A good program just dont cut out all of a suddent, and STM defantly has a good program. I think it will be a Vandy/STM final if they are seperated by the brackets.

Good point about the brackets PMIC2.
Does the LHSAA have the brackets released for the upcoming school year? I remember seeing them in the yearly coaches rules of LHSAA book. When are those books released?
It seems they would have to have them ready before the fall season sports start, so it is probable we could find out if Vandy and STM are on the same side of the bracket.
I may be in error, but aren't these rule books of LHSAA put out in a biannual basis, every two years. I think if I remember correctly, the only thing they did year to year was change home team where one year it is the top team that is the home team, and the next year, it is the bottom team. So, if it is every 2 years and this is the second year, then STM and Vandy should again be on the same side of the bracket.

STM is installing a new artificial turf field. If this field is truly built the way it was described to me, it will be a huge advantage to STM. It will be faster with no slope or hump in the middle. They should be able to widen the field at least as wide as they used to. If you have never played on one of these fields, you can not imagine how much faster the ball moves. The only way to compare it is to indoor. An STM/Vandy game at STM will defintely favor STM. As for as the new coach is concerned, he is very familiar with the program since he not only was the girl's assistant, he coached the Freshman program some time back. His only problem is controlling the talent he has. Trust me he is loaded. They can only beat themselves. He has enough talent to weed out the trouble makers. I can't wait to see the field.

While it does in usual games, when the grass element is changed, it really becomes huge.

Who are some of the best players from these Division II teams like Vandy and STM, and others too.

STM has will have 2 grass fields to practice on and they have been playing on grass since they were 4 years old, so I wouldn't think going from turf to grass will be a big deal.

As mentioned, STM has several practice fields. One which is humped just like alot of the away soccer fields. They will be able to practice on whatever field they will play next. If you have never seen a possesive team on turf, then you have no idea of how much faster it is. Your first touch is completely thrown off for those not used to it. And as for the new coach, STM has made the play-offs with every new coach in his first season with at least the last three.

Budds,
No one is arguing the talent on your STM team. I think the real question is how will the players respond to the new coach and can he bring them together to win that elusive state championship?

....that is if both teams win their districts. STM has northside. opolousas, and abbeville so im pretty sure they ownt lose there district. We also havent lost a district game in like 9 or 10 years or somethin like that. As for the turf field im ready to see what kind of speed it will bring. Im most likely goin to start at keeper for STM so the speed will be very important and even more important to the field player. I believe it will work to our advantage such as last year with the total 90 premier balls we purchased. The ball was so much different than playing with a regular ball that we practice with it and became ucustomed to it unlike teams that were playing us and using the ball for the first time.

Budds, No one is arguing the talent on your STM team. I think the real question is how will the players respond to the new coach and can he bring them together to win that elusive state championship? Our biggest problem last year was with our coach. Not 1 plyaer honestly respected or liked the way he treated us or coached us. No disrespect to him but he jus didnt do a good job at all leading to our dissappointing season. So anything better than him with all of our talent could bring us to a good season
