Physical uptempo game that saw the Gators finally show their striking ability. Gator defense and GK returned to form after a rough week and played very well, using lessons learned in the last two matches to get more consistency. St Amant scored 8 minutes in off a long throw when Trey Crawford banged in a rebound off a Jake Aucoin header. After that it was the C-Bass show as Sebastian Torrado nailed a breakaway in the first half, and then added two more (+1 more that was called back on a questionable offside) in the second stanza for a natural hat trick. Crawford closed the scoring with another header off a long throw, and St Amant emptied the bench with 12 minutes to go. Hats off to The Pit crazies for once again supporting their team as only they know how.
Big milestone for Sebastian tonight. Torrados hat trick gives him 75 goals for his career, moving him past Tyler Melancon for second all time at St Amant behind Jason Garey. Congrats to C-bass--hes a quality player and fine young man.

Good job, but don't read alot into it. Wildcats without 4 starters including keeper, 2 other all district players and top forward.

Hats off to The Pit crazies for once again supporting their team as only they know how. Quoted from Coachray40....
Yes, the only way they know how to show support is show the total lack of class of the student body of St. Amant. This was an absolute horrible display of the way to support any team. I cannot believe that the administration of ANY SCHOOL would allow their students or fans to act in that manner. There are better ways to support your team. I hope that someday their administration helps them figure that out.
I'm very dissappointed with the field conditions, some of the displays of actions from the field players, and even worse, the response of one of the coaches after the varsity game as to the actions and control of the student-body and fans.
Definite display of one of two things.... either complete lower class trash or a total lack of control by the school. That's the oppinion that I and several others at this game got and I am sure they're more that have experienced this in the past that have visited this school.
I may be wrong but this is what it is.
Sorry St. Amant, you may have won the game, but you lost when it comes to class and respectability.

um, what'd they do, call you names? Sadly I must say, I think you lost the game, and you lose in the fact that you can't handle insults. Have you ever watched a professional game? Did you watch the world cup? Did you see when Ronaldo upset off the entire england team and nation, and now, 6 months after, after all of the insults from loads of english people i'm sure, even supporters of manchest united itself, he's back in there playing some of his best soccer alongside rooney and ferdinand, both of the england team. That's what makes this game so great, the fact that it's JUST A GAME. that goes for players, supporters, and coaches. So what if somebody says or does something during a game, afterwards, the game's over and you get on with it. Do you think for the rest of your life you're going to be thinking about what happened at St Amant? I doubt it, so don't complain please. You lose my respect for not being able to handle the game in it's entirety. How I would kill for fans who would torment and trash talk the opposing team for the entire game, I would love it.

As in the world of St. Amant, C-Bass may be a big fish, but throw him into the ocean and he’s just a minnow. The shows over for the C-bass show pretty much for the rest of the season. He’s not the goal scorer he’s made out to be. At the moment, he’s the target to shut down if you play against St. Amant. If he can’t score against quality teams, he’s just the little minnow I mentioned above. I don’t see him becoming the big fish to step up and get his team through the big games. He’s too soft and doesn’t get involved enough.
DHS vs St Amant true game summary coming…

Beckham, which you are definity not (you're just a sideline player or parent who likes to try to get heard), high school soccer is not the world cup or the EPL League. Things go on there that are definitely offsides... such as prejudice and other negative antics that are trying to be delt with from the league and FIFA. So are you saying that the sportsmanship of the the game that almost every league and FIFA are working to fix is what you are supporting is what is right? Learn what is right before you decide to comment on a subject such as this. If you support these actions as they are, then you are supporting the actions of the rest of the world when it comes to the redicules of the players in the world cup and EPL... racist. Is that what you are saying that you are? If not than please don't support the these actions... because that is where it all leads. And at the high school level, this shouldn't even be an element of the game. Yes, I feel that you can cheer and root for your team but keep your thoughts about the other team to yourself. If you or anyone else dissagrees with this then I truely am in the deep south that has a lot to learn and is still in the age segregation and those thoughts. Get over it... it's been years now and you all need to learn to live in life as it is today. I HOPE NO ONE READING THIS IS STILL IN THIS WAY OF THINKING. But, after reading Beckhams thoughts, I do wonder.

St. Amant… Still Not A Top 10 Vote Sorry, Coachray, but that’s the way it is. On the night of DHS vs. St. Amant, DHS was missing 6 starting varsity players. I wish I could tell the story different. I would love to have come to your place and put a whipping on your team but that’s not the case. I was dealt the hand that I was giving to work with that night. Maybe next year in district play we can give you a better game. On this night, you played a JV team. I only have eleven deep for the Varsity team. We don’t sub unless we have to. And tonight, you played the JV plus 5 varsity players. Congradulations on your win. Pass that onto your players and supporters. Pat yourselves on the back for a great win. For the Pit Crazies… way to go… your team was the team to have several yellows plus a red card. That’s a great way to teach your players to get ready for college soccer that penalizes for the accumulation of both yellow and red cards. You’re doing a great job of cheering your team on. Keep up the good work. As for the game summary that Coachray40 put up, that’s far from the way the game went. This was a very boring one sided game. There was no possession involved in the match. It was a kick and run game by St. Amant. There was no striking ability shown by the Gators. Yes, they did score 5 goals, but if you call scoring 3 goals by scoring in a shoebox striking ability then think what you want. So, three goals scored off the shoebox that we played in (throw(2)/corners(1) (and yes, I give it them, they were more aggressive than we were). So, the other goal was off a misjudgment off one of there regular long balls (40-50 yard clearances) that bounced over our central backs head and gave a break away. And the fifth goal, I don’t remember but it was nothing special… because if it was I would have remembered it. On this night, St. Amant should have beaten us but at least 10-12 to 0. As a coach, I even put the weakness out in front of the coach and the team in the second half. They never figured out how to play soccer and score easy goals. That’s how I can say that this team is very weak and will not do anything in district and will not make the state playoffs. While trying to score a single goal against them, they couldn’t figure out our single most weakness and score off of it. I could say more here but I am going to keep it to myself. But, to give credit to St. Amant, you beat a Destrehan team that was only playing 5 varsity players for this match. And yes, we knew we were going to go down on this one. I’d love to play you with our best eleven when we are all available. Hopefully next year in district play we can have all of these eleven ready to play. As for this year… you got us and enjoy it. As for the teams that have yet to play St. Amant… The game went like this… St. Amant wins the ball and looks to kick it long every time and run after the ball. They are very athletic and look to make that their advantage. They don’t play soccer. When Destrehan won the ball, they looked to possess the ball which they weren’t able to do very well and move the ball forward. Often, they moved the ball into the final 3rd and lost it before getting any shooting opportunity. That’s just the way it went with a lot of fouls in between. When St. Amant went forward (kicked the ball 40 or 50 yards upfield), they weren’t able to create many scoring opportunities within the flow of play. They relied on the shoebox that they play in for long throws and corners. Play them on a half-way regulation size field and they can’t do anything against you. They don’t know how to play possession soccer and create opportunities. As far as a C-Bass show, I never saw it. He scored a couple of garbage goals besides the long break away he got. He's not a game maker. I never saw him take control of this game. He doesn't get involved enough and isn't physical enough to make an impact. He never looked to get the ball and make things happen. Against good teams, he will not be any worry. He needs to get more involved in the game. C-Bass may have scored 3 garbage goals against a very weak Destrehan varsity-JV team on this night, but against a good team this isn't going to happen. And the St. Amant defense and GK may have held a weak Destrehan team to a shut out but good luck against a stronger team. We look forward to playing you in the playoffs if thats the way it may go otherwise next year in district play. Overall, very boring game that got very physical for the wrong reasons. Best of luck to them for their upcoming games.

somebody's taking the loss a bit hard eh? Sorry Beckham... A wins a win and a loss is a loss. You learn a lot from either. When you win it's great, but there's always more to learn and prepare for. And a loss is a great way to humble yourself. Never take winning for granted... those are achievements that must be earned (and even more deserved). St. Amant deserved this win. Nothing taken hard on my part... (0r my teams part for that)... just something for us to learn. but thanks for the comment

Jeeze. Lighten up rbsoccerinsouth. I realize you lost, but completely ripping apart a team like that is uncallled for (and in that aspect, exactly what you're preaching against with the Pit Crazies). They won. Ok. Deal with it. Don't get on a website at 1 in the morning, badmouthing everyone involved with the team. Dude gets a hat trick on your team, and you say he's not that good of a player. Well, obviously he's good enough to score three goals. As for playing with jv players, ok. I realize that coaches have to do something like this every once in a while, just owing to nothing more than bad luck. Well, this is the beauty of high school soccer. When one guy gets knocked out of playing, you give the younger guys (who'll be there in a year or two) a chance to show their stuff. Soccer isn't about who has the better team. It's about who comes out to play on any given night. Example: Man Utd lost to Celtic. Oviously Man U is the better team, but Celtic took their opportunity. It's a game. Stop bad-mouthing people online and start using that energy to work on your 'Jv plus 5 starters' of a team. And most importantly, grow up.

Okay, first, I've played soccer for the past 15 years, I played all four years of highschool, and I just finished my first season of college soccer. So, that's just to straighten that up. Second, I don't support racism, at all, so I don't know where that comment came out of. What I was referring to was the way the fans jump on the backs of players during the games and let 'em have it the entire time. I don't know if anybody happened to catch the Arsenal/Chelsea game the other day where Lehman was taking a goal kick and all of a sudden you hear this one guy clearly go "Lehman you're f**king s**t". I have no problem with that, when I went to a game while I was in England the entire game the home fans pestered the away team's goalkeeper from right behind him, it happens. That's the part of the game I'm referring to, I in no way accept racism in any form, I'm talking about insulting players the right ways. Do you see any of them complaining that the fans are too mean to them? NOTHING is going to be done about the fans, if they do anything seriously wrong, if there's some cops there, they'll deal with it. And please don't tell me about wins and losses, I went from being on a team that made it to the semi's in the playoffs, to only winning 2 games in a season.

oooh lordy...........
I'll try not to show my total lower class trash or lack of respectability in rebutting each of your comments-
The atmosphere at the Pit was one that YOU created by doing the same thing last weekend as you are doing here-shooting off your mouth. You called our program "struggling" and "a joke". My kids read that crap and those at the school took it to heart. Why in the world would you trash talk ANY other school as a coach, especially one that you are about to play at THEIR stadium, and double especially one that will be a district rival for you over then next 2 years? The fans didnt shout obscenities, didnt say anything racial, and didnt say anything morally objectionable--they just hollered at your players all night and called you out for running your head earlier in the week. If it hurt you and you players feelings, then maybe you guys should a) toughen up a tad, and b) stop writing crap on LAPrep--the latter I blame on you, not your players.
Since you guys complained, I spoke to our assistant principal (who was at the game) after the game about the fans to see if he had heard or witnessed anything unsavory, and I also spoke to the center official about the same thing. Neither indicated that they saw anything wrong with the fans--the fans were just rowdy. Now you know that i did look into it, though i didnt coming running back over to you to genuflect and deliver the news. The fans gave us a homefield advantage, and you guys obviously couldnt handle it. That fact that you are on here again talking down to us should really lend itself to a warm reception for your team at The Pit over the next 2 years. You got locked up with me last year in the same fashion, and I was the one who came to you looking for the match this season so we could see where each program was at. Guess we know now.
As for the JV thing--as I said before, nobody ever loses in LA unless they are playing their JV. Whatever. If you were missing players, then the game result doesnt speak too highly of your depth, and depth is a reflection of player development--i.e. COACHING. I played 21 different players in the Destrehan match, with many of my "jv" players seeing significant minutes throughout the game. DHS still never got a sniff at our goal except a wide header with about 2 minutes to go. Those missing guys must be pretty darn good.
As for C-Bass--if he isnt any good, then why did you have a guy shadowing him all night, and then bring 2 or 3 others to him everytime he touched the ball? And he STILL dropped three on Destrehan. Yeah, he isnt any good--thats why I have a voicemail from you on my cell phone this morning telling me about how you know some college coaches looking for players and you want to talk to me about Sebastian. What kind of crap is that? You want to flex on me, St Amant, and Sebastian here in public, but then you want to try and make yourself look good in private? Thats totally bush, dude. Anyone who wants to hear that message, just let me know--I have it saved on my phone.
As for the coaching aspect, having only seen us once you really have no idea how we can play. Relying on what works in an individual game is considered game adjustment. It took us about 4 minutes to see Destrehan was a) playing way too flat in the back, and b) wasnt fast enough to catch our forwards. Hence the long ball, which is something we havent really done all year. Now, as a coach, after I saw the first 40-50 yard heave into the box by Jordan Lambert on a throw in, I just might have advised my defenders to a) play a bit deeper so as not to get the ball kicked over my head, keeping the attack in front of me, and b) try not to knock the ball over the sideline if they did. Thats not any more tactical than maybe U12, but ya'll never adjusted. Once we saw that you wouldnt change, we just held 6 guys deep, waited for your #7 to overdribble, or for your team to lose possession after our 1st defender pressure caused an error, and then go long. Every time ya'll dumped it out on the sideline, and we took the throw. 4 of the five goals, the two goals that were called back(you didnt mention those), the handball for the PK that we missed(you didnt mention that either) and the handball that wasnt called were all caused by Destrehans lack of willingness to adjust to the match. I'd say we played exactly to your weakness and exploited it repeatedly. Thats coaching and smart play. DHS did play some very attractive soccer at times, and certainly has skilled players. It just didnt help them to be successful.
As for the Top 10 thing--why do you keep harping on that? it seems to me RB that YOU are the only person that is concerned with St Amants "ranking". We arent, nobody else on LAPrep is, and I have not once said a thing about St Amants worthiness to be ranked this year. The polls are the least of my worries right now. Along with that I dont think that beating Destrehan gives us any added credibility.
So lets review: 1) RB runs his head on LAprep about CL and St Amant 2) RB's team comes to St Amant 3) RB's team gets whipped 4) RB whines, continues to talk trash, 5) RB bags harshly on player on LAPrep, yet calls Coachray privately to inquire about his availability to certain college coaches that RB knows
Yup--think that about covers it.
Happy Holidays

So I think Coach Ray just about ended this conversation... The game is over, the better team won.. So good luck to both teams as they fight for thier district titles. Maybe in the future RB will watch what teams he calls out, I don't totally disagree with everything he says on here but I do disagree with pointing out faults in players, coaches and teams.. Although I must admit the talking about Central Lafourche has had a positive reaction around here. (Winners of 6 out of the last 7)..So if you do talk bad about any more schools please let it be us...

From reading this thread it sounds like at the next meeting of these two teams the referees need to grease up their cards so they will be able to pull them out quick. I have a suggestion, before the match the two coaches go out in the center of the field and get rid of all their pent up anger against each other. Advertise that before the game and you will have an overflowing stadium. Gate receipts could be split 60/40. Maybe we can get Don King to promote it as The Ugly Man vs The World's Greatest Coach. Everyone can decide for themselves which is which.
