A tight one with University and then a draw to DeRidder. After some really ugly losses early on, Coach DeRitter may be turning this program around quicker than we thought.

2 starting defenders unable to play due to injury. 2 pks in the box and 3 teams of boys, the coach changed the entire team 3 times, against 1 tired team due to very few subs.

its funny for a coach named DeRitter to play a team named Deridder. but yes i expect Shaw to be topnotch in the coming years, supposedly the whole shaw team is freshmen. all the upperclassmen were cut due to "attitude problems." Really to me, it was just an excuse to get rid of the upperclassmen and start all over with a completely new team. thats if this is true. so if it really is all freshmen expect how good theyll do in years together if they keep this up now.

Noah... WHO DAT, did I just give away your name.... I forgot your name isn't Noah. anyway... I got your email... I hope you and the boys at GK keep surprising people.
As for Shaw, I will give you an update on Tuesday night. I expect them to be a stronger team than everyone is talking about.
I know they have a very strong and talented forward, Josh Casimier. He's a huge impact player. He's going to be a big time college player. He's and ODP player and hopfully, he can find his way to getting past the regional pool. He's go the size, strenght, and talent to be the player to represent LA at the highest level.
Josh... push yourself to get there

The "tight" 5-3 game to University was not as close as the score. University was up 4-1 at half and up 5-1 at one point. When University put in their subs they scored 2 goals off of really bad calls. As for DeRidder, I don't quite know what happened there but DeRidder beat University 6-0 which is more of a surprise.

i saw shaw play and i really thought they were one of the worst teams in Division I, i cant see how they tied deridder. but they have some serious making up to do the rest of the year.
ps. the upperclassmen play on the jv(when i saw them play) because coach deritter has a strict rule that a varsity player should be able to run 2 miles in under 12 minutes

2 miles in 12 minutes? That's a high standard.

That's where a lot of colleges set their standards. I think it should be closer to 13:30-14, but hey, this guy is a good coach, so he knows what he's doing.

I know Coach Deritter and know for a fact he did not cut seniors and juniors just to start with a new team. I'm sure he had a good excuse for cutting them or making them play JV. As for the 2 mile run, its true he demands his players to be in top form before they ever see the field. Some may look down on Coach Deritter for this, but he is the best coach in the state.

thats good, im glad he really didnt cut the upperclassmen. but wow 2 miles in 12 minutes? thats really tough, the best ive had in a two mile is around 13:30. long distance will get you in shape for games, but you also need speed, i did cross country to stay in shape for soccer, and it helps but it lacks sprints.

so your telling me that not a single upperclassman could make the run in alotted time?

I don't have the details of their team. All I know about the actual team is from what I read on here. I know Coach Deritter would never cut upperclassmen just to start with freshmen. He is a very strict coach and demands a lot out of his players. Maybe the upperclassmen quit because they couldn't take his training sessions. He might have dismissed them for their attitudes because he would rather eleven kids who have never played soccer but try their hardest and work, then eleven superstars who just go through the motions and wait for practice to end.

Now I'm not disagreeing with you but I just find it hard to fathom that kids who played at a very low level school in the past years would quit cause, someone grab the klenex... "It's too much work (sniff) he wanted me to run in soccer (sniff sniff) WHAT KIND OF A MONSTER IS HE!" even after they get one of if not the best coaches in the New Orleans area and possibly the state.
