I'll go through this by team. Peabody really has no standouts. Tioga has one or two players that can control the ball well, neither are best in district. Sam Houston is like Tioga. Leesville has a good player in Cosmos, but not the best. Pineville has a very talented team. Nick Weeks, if not injured, may have been one of the best players in our District. Pineville also has some standout freshman. I think if you are looking for the best freshman you'll find him at Pineville. DeRidder also has a very talented team. There is a talented junior or senior central defender that could be one of the best, as well as one of their forwards. ASH's best player, Michael Broadwell, has been limited to a defensive position, so he has not been able to showcase his ability. He is defenantly one of the best players in the district.

Good players must be looked at in relation to their team and system. Tioga is young but has no real star but a couple look promising. Sam Houston has a couple of good midfielders. ASH has the best overall team talent in the district. Pineville is the most physical team and may have won the district if Weeks wasn't hurt. He is a good player and leader. DeRidder has a good middle defender along with the Coronel kid and a right wing. While Leesville is undisciplined but improving, they have a good defender and probably the best keeper in the district (but I think he is hurt).
With Weeks out, I don't see a clear-cut MVP in the district.

"Sam Houston is like Tioga" - yikes, that just hurts. No offense to Tioga or anything, but SHHS is MUCH better than Tioga. With wins over Tioga 7-2 and 2-0 (the 2-0 win was an ugly one for SHHS too), SHHS is definately better and has much more talent than them. At the same time, I would not say SHHS has the best players in district, but we definately have a few really bright spots on the field.

Sorry. I definitely meant no offense to Sam Houston's team in my last comment. We have played you guys twice and both have been close games. What I did mean was that your team does not have a standout player. That is not a bad thing. ASH really only has one standout player. Our wins come from team play and cooperation.

Does anyone have anything to say about the defense? The sweeper and maybe goalie from ASH is pretty good too...

Yah. That's who I was taking about in my earlier post. His name is Michael Broadwell and he is number 10. He played sweeper in district and is playing keeper in the playoffs. Easily one of the best players in the district, maybe the best.

im not trying to bash ash or anything but i think deridder is just as well or better talented as ash. they did kinda beat them both district games. and as far as best player in the district, i would have to say alvais and weeks is a close matchup

OK. First off, DeRidder never "kind of" beat ASH. They definetly shut us off in the second game. DeRidder deserved to win, because we played like crap, and they did not. Second, for the best player in the District, it is definantly not Nick Weeks. He may have been, but injuries have completely taken him out this season. On another note, Alvais is not the best player in D2-D2. There are older players on DeRidder that are better than he is. No offence to Alvais, but I'm not even sure if he is the best freshman in the district.

i hate to bust someone's bubble here but if you think Alvais is the best player in district then i think you should actually watch a soccer game. After playing against him, the kid lacks the skill, experience, sportsmanship and leadership that "the best in D2" requires. The only people that create hype about Alvais are from DeRidder...

my team is not in D2D2 but we have played several teams from that district (ASH, Pineville, Deridder, and Leesville) Alvais IS the best freshman but not the best player. Nic Weeks would have been but he was hurt. after all of this, Micheal Broadwell has to be the best player i have played with him in rec and he is an all-around great athlete sorry to hear that he cannot use his talent in the playoffs by being placed in the goal

Michael Broadwell is not only one of the best soccer players but just good at everything he does, he is a great athlete and is defently the most underrated player in D2D2 because he is proly the best, but he is using his talent in goal. one of the best keepers in D2

for the record, your opinion is noted, but alvais cornel does have 25+ goals for the season and over 15 assist...that has to count for something

alvais is the best player, and i'm not from deridder. You all think that the best player is athletic or strong or fast or has a nice rip, Alvais definetly knows how to create space, he takes on players, gets back and defends better than most midfielders do, scores goals and creates them, so I think you're mistaken. Yes, Nick Weeks is fast and strong and skilled with the ball, yes Michael is quick on the field in defense and plays very well in keeper, but Alvais is a more complete player and definetly has more potential for being a freshman. He's the best player on deridder by far and if they didn't have him, they wouldn't have done as well as they did, no offense to deridder but i think they would have to agree.
