Still trying to figure out why everyone assumes 1-1 will get 3-3 and 1-2 will get 3-4. I actually emailed LHSAA and asked this question' " Assuming that the travel distance is the same in either case, would the wildcard assignor match the district champion in district 1 with the 3rd place WC or the 4th place WC from district 3 this year?" I got this answer," Travel is the main criteria. There are other situations which may arise that would dictate who travels where." I asked for clarification on those other situations but got no further response. I guess I was only allowed one question. He certainly cleared up the travel part of the question . BTW, I think that Lafayette will end up taking second place in D3, Acadiana third, and Sulphur fourth.

Using Coach Rays playoff spreadsheet, 3-3 has played 1-1 4 times in the last 10 years. 3-3 has played 1-2 one time. That was last year when district 2 got all 3 teams in the playoffs. If district 2 only gets 2 teams in this year, history would suggest that 3-3 would play 1-1.

Agreed, but with District 8 being so barren post Katrina (and Higgins wont win a game), and with District 9's 4th place team probably with no better than a 20% winning percentage in district play, 2-3 should get in.

Using Coach Rays playoff spreadsheet, 3-3 has played 1-1 4 times in the last 10 years. But other districts were involved in 3 of those times so 'other considerations' may have been involved. This year I'm thinking that District 1's top two are getting District 3's bottom two, so it's going to be hard to justify 'other considerations' since travel is the same (Independence Stadium) if 1-1 is not matched up with 3-4. Most sports people are accustomed to seeing 1st place get the more favorable matchup, and when that doesn't happen they just want to know why.

What if the district 2 3rd place team has a 0-4 district record? Could they still get in? As of now the standings are Ouachita 1-0 Ruston 0-0 West Monroe 0-1

They ill take the highest winning percentage of all WC. The 14 highest make it I think.

isnt C. Lafourche in the same district as Terrebone? do they allow teams in the same district to play each other in the first round of playoff games in football?

However, by the end of the year I don't think they will fall in that spot with the games still left to be played, if this is how the ranking would fall. I am sure there would be an exception to adjust this. I.E. 22 and 23 would swap, giving the advantage to 22 since they are higher.

I will only make one prediction. That the finals in D1 consist of either dist 3 or dist. 9 or both.
Cro, Acad, Laf, Jesuit, Bro. Mart., Rummel
2 of these 6 teams will be in the finals. It doesn't matter what happens during the year or who is better......it will 2 of these 6 teams in the finals.

Those would be the seedings if the season ended this week and we used a ranking system. Neither is true. In football the only changes made are to allow all district champions into the playoffs. If they rank lower than 32, they come in as 32 and the next lowest ranked team is out.
Hard to argue with H's prediction. Works out that way almost every year and most likely would have last year as well if Lafayette hadn't been dq'ed.

Districts 2, 8, & 9 will each send 2 teams=30 teams total. District 9 will send its 3rd place team=31. That will leave the 3rd place from District 2 and 8, and the 4th from District 9 to duke it out for the last spot. Higgins wont win, so they will not make it, so really it comes down to West Monroe and either Holy Cross or Shaw.

District 2
Ouachita 1-0 Ruston 1-0 West Monroe 0-2, 2 matches yet to play
District 9
Holy Cross 1-5 Shaw 0-5
Holy Cross may finish 2-6 or both will finish 1-7.

If holy cross beats shaw, then due to their location, where would they be put into the playoff seedings?
