I'm out with strep throat and pretty bored today, so i decided to do a little research on the teams hovering above the top ten. these are the guys i focused on..
First off the two teams with 3 votes this last week in top ten:
St. Pauls: 9-7 record with losses only to top ten teams other than mandeville upsetin pks. Losses: Brother Martin (2), Jesuit, Rummel, Fontainebleau, Caddo, Mandeville.. The only big problem with ranking this team would be that they have to quality wins.. I would rank this team number 12 for there hard schedule, and the brhs and vandebilt wins plus the six district wins.
Dutchtown: 9-4-4 record with losses only to Lafayette, Teurlings, Jesuit, and Northshore... This teams successes in my eyes is not losing badly to any of the 3 giants of high school soccer and the wins against BRHS, tie with shreve and carencro and for that id put them at 11th place.
Central Lafourche: 12-5-1 record with losses to ED White, Vandebilt, a MS team, Fontainebleau, Mandeville.. This team has won 11 out of there last 12 games in great form... Successes: tie with Rummel, win over St. Amant, and the 3-0 district record. A strong opponentin my eyes who should not be overlooked but yet placed at 13th in my view
here would be the teams that would have to be put in a hat to draw from right out side of 13th place:
Comeaux: 10-7-1 with losses to Acadiana, deridder, carencro, Lafayette, Barbe, and teurlings.. this team plays in a pretty competetive area of the state with excellent teams and that is the reason for so many losses.. high points: tie with lafayette, beat rummel, BRHS, and Sulphur
CE Byrd: 9-2 record with losses only to the number 6 ranked Caddo Magnet and Parkway in the finals of a tourney.. this team hasnt played any top teams other than shreve and magnet who travel around the state. and of course their only high point being that overtime win against captain shreve
BRHS: 5-10-1 record with alot of losses but against highly ranked teams: Magnet, Jesuit, Dutchtown, Comeaux, Rummel, St Pauls.. this team has had a very hard schedule but i think they are being way underrated.. with wins against Grace King and St Amant and tie against newman look for this team to pull some wins out soon. They are definitely flying under the radar this season
St Amant: 9-4-4 record with losses to Catholic br, BRHS, Woodlawn, and Central Lafourche.. highlights of season so far: 5-0 win over destrehan, and win over East Ascension.. dissapointments: BRHS and woodlawn loss
