I'm looking around trying to sketch possible playoff runs. I'm surprised not to find much interplay between the N.O area and the Lafayette area. Shreveport teams know they have to travel to see quality teams. Shreve goes to Sulphur, Lake Charles; Caddo goes to Sulphur, Mandeville; Byrd just got back from Dallas. I see where other schools go to Mississippi and Texas for tournament play. Also, I see where Rummel played Comeaux but one game doesn't determine a trend. I would guess the best teams in La come out of these two areas. Do they not play each other because 1) of the required travel? 2)they are keeping their hand close to their vest awaiting the playoffs 3)they can find all the competition they need close to home? Did find these results, any more? (not sure E D White qualifies as Lafayette area) Carencro | 1 | BM | 1 | Lafayette | 1 | BM | 1 | Teurlings | 1 | BM | 1 | Rummel | 2 | E D White | 0 | Rummel | 1 | Comeaux | 2 | St Pauls | 1 | E D White | 0 |

LafayetteAcadiana teams rarely travel. They think everyone should come to them. Just like ODP program.

i think the answer to your question is this. dist 3 and dist9 are the two best dist. in the state. the state champ has come from one of these two districts for at least the last ten years. they play great compition in there own backyard. plus most of the players play against each other in select and club tourny's all year. north louisiana hasn't gotten to that level YET but are improving every year.

Lakeview, with that nickname, I can only assume where you are from. There is enough competition in the Lafayette area with tournaments and district play that they don't have to travel. Anyway, why would anyone from Lafayette ever want to travel to New Orleans area? The facilities are probably the worst in the state. The soccer is good, but thats about it.

I agree with Cougarfan- the Lafayette area has great competition locally without having to travel away from the Acadiana area. STM can play the 5-A teams or D-I in Lafayette, (mainly-Carencro, Lafayette, Acadiana) in non-district games as well as Teurlings Catholic. The D-I teams here have the #1 teams in Div II and III right here in STM and Teurlings.
It makes for a win-win situation for all area Lafayette teams, and St Louis in Lake Charles throws a great tournament which most of the Lafayette teams attend. (Only an hour away)
Put all that together, and I think that is why most teams in Lafayette stay close to home.

Seems like you would want to take at least one pretty long road trip during the season. If you go deep into the playoffs sooner or later you are going to have to travel. You don't want to create new situations for young people to deal with before a big game. It just seems natural that somebody from NO or Lafayette would make that trip. It's a little far but it is certainly managable. There are lots of good teams in both regions. But mainly, I want to see who is better. NO or Lafayette.
