with the weather we have been seeing here in LA, I thought it would be interesting to get different perspectives on the effects of wind.
do you take the wind to your back in the first half? or do you fight the attack & wind the first half & use it to your advantage in the second half?
My opinion is to go with the wind in the first half, try to build a lead and adjust to that in the second half. Also, you never know when the wind wil die off or even change directions

I definetly say go with the win in the first half, so many times in the past we've taken the wind in the second half but if you use it to your advantage, wear a team out and score a few, they might not even be able to get back in the game, especially if they don't have the wind in the second half.

i go against it first half ....... go into a defensive style of play like a 4-2-3-1 which is good for a counter attack and hope to squeeze a goal that way ..... second half open it up with a more attacking style of play like a 4-4-2 sending my outside backs all the way up on the attack.

go with the wind first half. use it to your advantage while it's there and go up and try to create a nice lead. you never know if the wind will still be blowing, or in what direction, for the second half.

I believe you take the wind in the first half. The elements of the game may change as the game goes on. I also think you will see how much of an attack you must generate to come back with the victory in the 2nd half if need to be.
Knowing going into the second half is alot better than not knowing if you will be able to take advanage of the wind in the second.

i love going against the wind first half because its harder to get up the field but if u REALLY want to win u can keep ur opponent contained and u can play posession for a good bit. then 2nd half with the wind...u spank sum a**.

I would take the wind at my back, but it can sometimes be a disadvantage. I've seen the wind blow too hard from behind and every ball that gets played ends up rolling out of bounds or to the other keeper. I've also seen people go against the wind, play a long ball, and the winds stops the ball right on a forwards foot. It just depends on how you view it. Really, a good team should be able to adjust either way unless the wind gets up in the 30-40mph range. Then everything is out the window anyways.

Really the wind is not -that- great of a factor, especially if your a smart team capable of playing balls low. Obviously you want the wind on your back, but as previously stated, it doesn't usually affect a game too greatly unless it gets escalated a good bit. I'd always take the wind in the first half if I can get it...i don't worry on it if i don't though. (of course, you could be lookin' for that shot off the opening kick off... then havin the wind makes a good difference ;-)

It really depends on how your team plays. If you have a high powered offense then yes of course you would choose the wind. But with a good defense that can withstand the wind and the offense then i would get the wind in the second half.

I always say its best to go with the wind the first half. Use it to your advantage and try to run up the score. Its hard to come back from a high defficate. Because of the fact that you can always hold your defense in and play mainly defense.

I have played a game where the wind changed at half time. We went against wind both haflves. Use it to your advantage as soon as possible so the wind doesn't change.
