With the end of the season a week and a half away, I was hoping that we could start seeing some of the district standings and who is going to be winning and coming in second and wild card in each district. Im in Division III but it would be good to do for all divisions I am sure.
Div. III Dist. 3
Current Standings
1. Opelousas Catholic 2. Menard 3. Bolton (2 games left per team)

What about the two districts up North. How is district 2 doing and what is the situation with District 1 this year?

That's district 10. Agree Newman, St Martin's and CD as wild card.
District 6 is Episcopal (1st), West Feliciana (2nd) , Parkview (WC) and Redemptorist.

There are 32 slots in the playoffs. They will be filled by #1 and #2 of 10 districts (20 teams) and 12 WC (3rd or 4th place only in DIII). LHSAA by-law also states: 18.7.5.1.1 Third-place, fourth-place, and fifth-place teams (where applicable) with the best won-loss percentage records in district play shall be selected in descending order until wildcard positions are filled on the bracket. I remember that the last year, DIII didn't have 32 (1st through 4th) teams to fill the spots, so that EVERY 3rd or 4th place team made it into the play-offs even with a record of 0-4. I assume it'll be similar this year. As long as they report the result to LHSAA, one district win probably puts any team in the playoffs. A win may not be necessary as long as you are #3 or #4. According to LHSAA by-law, by the way, there is ONE team (Red River) in DIII-1. There is no #2 in DIII-1. I have no record of Red River playing this year, so that they may not field a team for the playoffs. Here is another one. DIII-9: Ecole Classique, Karr=Edna, Lutheran As far as I know, Lutheran is the only school which plays soccer this year (I could be wrong, though). They may not be able to fill in #2 or #3.... This is a very good reason to oppose making too many small districts in DIII. I understand the traveling distance for northern teams is an issue, but you place ONE team in a district? On the other hand, look at DIII-4. DIII-4: Catholic (NI), Episcopal of Acadiana, Notre Dame, St. Louis, Teurlings Catholic, Westminster TC and STL will go as #1 and #2 (possibly the other way around). Westminster will be #3. Then, probably CHNI will be in, and ESA is out. DIII-1 may not have any team to send to the playoffs and DIII-4 has two teams which won't make it. As far as I can count, we only have 37 DIII teams playing soccer. Dividing them into 10 districts is wrong. The playoffs should have 16 teams, at most, but with 10 districts, you have to have more than 20 (10x2), thus, 32. I hope LHSAA will realize what they are doing by making up 10 small districts.

10 districts is wrong and stupid. 16 team playoff. or 16 plus a wild card play in. anything but crazy uncompetitive districts. teams like u high and episcopal should be in the same district.
when do the geniuses redo the districts?

As one who has been involved in soccer for approximately 20years, I believe the districts should be left the same and the number of teams getting to the playoffs remain the same. I would like to see soccer continue to grow in Louisisana, but limiting who gets in the playoffs will only lead to the elimination of the sport at smaller Div III schools where it is a fight with AD's to continue the sport.

First of all, the ten districts for DIII setting started only two years ago. While your point is well taken, the fact remains that we couldn't even field 32 eligible teams for the playoffs last year, and possibly again this year.

i personally think for soccer the best way to do things would be to combine D2 and D3. That would not only make districts have way more teams, but it would also make making the playoffs and winning state soooo much more competitive. instead we have the same teams dominating every single year. just think if teurlings, stm, vandy, st louis, newman, university, sta, deridder and all the others were in the playoffs together... things would be much funner to watch and the best teams wouldnt just walk to the finals.

How good is St. Thomas Aquinas this year? Would they be able to play with Newman, St. Louis, and Teurlings?

usually i would say st thomas aquinas has excellent athletes playing with no real select players on the team... that has never stopped them from being successful in the playoffs before... they always manage to have good runs in the playoffs, only a few years ago they had back to back teams that werent quite as good as st louis was and ended up losing to st louis in the playoffs and st louis went on to win the championship both years

And they made it to the final four years ago (I think). While this year's team has speed and some ball control skills, I don't think they can beat Teurlings or St. Louis. They split with Newman this year (1-2 and 4-0), though some people claim that Newman fielded a JV team against them (in the final of a tournament??).

From what the Newman players told me, Newman was missing one player who sat on the bench b/c of injurey, granite he was their best play, i still dont think he would make a 4-5 goal difference, we scored with 4 different players, and we were missing 2 key starters, (If anyone was @ the U-High-STA game, the players missing @ our games against Newman were #17 and #26.) (#26 played left wing against U-high but got hurt, he is 1 of our only 2 seniors, he used to play for Bro. Matrin & Lakeview, the team that mullins is on, untill the storm and he now goes to Saint Thomas in Hammond. And we lost to Newman earlier in that tournament 2-1, they were the same players, and im pretty sure we didnt lose to Newmans j.v. ............. And doesnt Newman start mostly sophmores and juniors? so where would their so called "j.v." players have come from? I dont think that was their j.v.
